Give me a “Busse for Dummies” rundown

Man you guys are awesome. This is more info than I could have hoped for.
My life-long MO has been to break stuff. Pretty much all stuff. Because how can you know how good something is until you’ve pushed it all the way?
I have not seen a knife maker or warranty yet who may well be able to outdo my destruction.
Really appreciate the love

I wasn't the biggest fan personally.

Their secondary edges were pretty obtuse, which made them not very good at cutting things, and I didn't find infi to have very good edge retention. I was definitely more impressed with their SR101 than infi.

Order wise, I placed 4 orders with Busse:
On two orders they gave me the wrong tracking number initially. On one order the blade came with light marring, which I would have been fine with if the knife had cost a lot less than it did, and on one order they didn't realize I had placed it until several months later when I asked why my order hadn't shipped yet.

Credit where credit is due, they do have some of the coolest looking designs out there, but I also think that's mostly what you're paying for: cool looks.

But that's just me. I'm sure others have had more positive experiences than I have.

Really appreciate you trying to show all sides, sir.

So I thought I'd just ask Google Search's A.I. What is so great about Busse knives ?
It gave me a predictable rundown of Busse lore. I copied the text and pasted it into a text editor to save and I noticed something strange in the copied text that didn't show up in the browser page.

Ok, so now it's on. I used the browser's "inspection" tool that allows you to dissect HTML code used in the page. I found a line of code referencing an easter egg at the position where the extra line was in the text editor.

So what did the easter egg say ?

Hyperbole and fanboying aside, Busse knives are pretty ...

So I thought that was funny at first, but thought there might be more text left out in the process. Searching the source code it seems to be from a post on another forum:

Hyperbole and fanboying aside, Busse knives are pretty awesome

Google's Gemini is a fan.

I gave Busse a fair shot, and they weren't for me. But if this is what you're looking for, and you're willing to go to this price point to get it, chances are it's a pretty great choice for you.

Prosperity to you in the coming 2026 BF!

Busse has caught my eye. I can’t quite explain why, but something about these knives speak to me. I’ve shied away from high end fixed blades historically—it is an intimidating side of the collector’s game.

For the Busse pros, would you give me a short rundown of why these knives speak to you? Why are they always coming up as “the best?”

Let me hear from some contrarians too if there are any.

Beyond studying these blades for myself, I want to hear what makes them great from the folks who have the wisdom.

Final question: what’s the first Busse you would reccomend as a point of entry?

Thanks,
John
John they are the quintessential hard use knife. Many have tried to emulate, few have succeeded and almost none have surpassed.

As for the warranty no other manufacturer comes close.

Personally if I was going to buy my first one and funds were limited I would look at any of the Basics. They are some of the best practical using knives out there.

Probably my all time favourite knife is the original Skinny ASH, but they are hard to find.

Good luck with the search, let us know what you finally choose........ :)

& just the people themselves!
I feel that true integrity is being good/true when no one else is looking.
That being said, you just will not find any 2 people with as much integrity than Jerry & Garth.
Nor will you find as genuinely good human beings either -
Those 2 are really awesome.
And that goes for the front office staff as well - the Busse ladies are AWESOME!!
You asked, so thats what i know.

....... these are terrible models.....just terrible.... NO ONE should eve consider buying one..... in fact I would go far as to say that if you are unlucky enough to have one darkening a space in your home you should immediately rid yourself of it.... because I am such a great friend and helper here, I would be willing to accept these horrible things if shipped to me. Once here I will of course take them into the far west red dirt country here and abandon them where they can do no more harm :D :D :D

For reference purposes....

Appreciate it Steven! I have my eyes on a few I may be able to snag if the price is right. Damn this infernal hobby. My kids probably don’t need a college fund 🤣

Well this escalated quickly. Came across a deal on a Mega Ratweiler and that was that. I believe a 7” blade.IMG_7139.jpeg

Hey John
Welcome to the forum.
Here’s an old video on me chopping the garage floor with a Busse game warden. You can see the concrete dust flying lol

I just gave it some passes on a honing stone after. Good to go. Little tank

Music to my ears. I believe the Ratweiler I came across comes in sr-101. That’s new for me. I’ll be excited to start cutting down trees.
