Just wanted to see some BK11's all in one place. Pictures, mods, stories, handles, no handles, love, hate, love to hate, hate to love, etc...

Yep, I did it again. Just ordered one a few minutes ago and figured I could get some porn here until it arrived.

I hope my Izulu will forgive me but who can't love a knife with the Becker name and a bottle opener.

It's a win...win!

Clich, that etching looks so awesome. Unfortunately, I don't have a Necker, but check out my Eskabar :)

Those both look good. I thought about the 14 but since I had the Izulu I thought the 11 would be different. It also doesn't hurt that I have a taste for beers that don't twist off so that opener is a handy little extra!

Hey Maethor what's the story on the fire steel? Don't think I have seen one like that. Did you make it yourself?

The orange G10 is my "where did I put that knife". I ordered another as a gift but...
I liked the BK11 in hand enough to keep the other one and add black micarta.
Then I ordered two BK14s. One of those will be gifted instead of the BK11.

Did you get the orange handles from Ebay? Seems I have seen those somewhere before. They look like they would be slick in the hand. How do you like them?

Yes, I did. A friend of mine who owns a store for outdoorsy and tactical stuff had a couple cheap knock-off blastmatches, some of which were broken. He gave me one of the ferro rods for free, it was my first firesteel and still my only one. I've lit about 30 fires with it, and it's holding up pretty good.

The handle in the picture is an old screwdriver handle which I drilled a hole into and then just epoxied the rod in. It cracked a few months later, so I made another one out of birchwood which fell off because I did something wrong with the epoxy. When I start my new job where I'll have access to a lot of heavy machinery (milling machines, lathes, grinding machines and so forth), I'll make a custom handle out of aluminum or steel on a new rod for the winter.

Yes I did. And yes they are slick. I do like scales on the 11 for the fuller in hand feeling. Maybe some day I'll find someone that can do a neat pattern on them (I don't trust myself for that) or find some one who will make a standout set for both the 11 and 14. Since the closest thing I have to outdoorsy is urban weekend camping I'm good for now. Aging eyes and joints are my bigger detriment. By the time I get to improve my QLQ (quality of life quotient) I am usually so burnt out I can't find my buttocks with both hands. At least the BK2 is large enough to make it hard to misplace!

Thanks for the response. That is what kinda turned me off to maybe picking up a set. I noticed the same seller had some that were a muted black and purple. Looks a bit more grippy but it's hard to tell from the pics. May end up going with the Becker micarta.

The advantage of micarta seems to be that they are easier to rough up for grip. Those orange G10s are just slam up slick. And of course the orange is the favorite for me and my KOA friends. I am tempted to check out original Becker's myself. If I were creatively inclined I would have just done orange liner's. But then the big knife (BK2) and the slicker little knife reduces the amount of time I have to track down my stuff from my other "you always have something to use" urbanites.
