Giveaway: Eye Brand Stag & Hi-Carbon steel Canoe 4 U

Inside every old man there is a young man wondering what the hell happened.

Thanks for the chance

Thanks for the fun Anthony.

2008 has been a year of discovery for me. Back in September I traveled with my oldest son to the territories west of Arkansas in search of adventure and riches.

Although we found no gold or silver, we did discover riches in Durango Colorado and points NE in the San Juans towards Ouray.

We conquered the range of mountain peaks on our journey, and dutifully scaled the highest peak in sight and claimed the territory by erecting a really large flag of the great state of Arkansas. Some passers-by tried to convince us that the lands already belonged to Colorado, but we refuted their opinion and pointed out that there were no other flags in sight.

As evidence of our big adventure, I include a snapshot of yours truly taken during the moment I solemnly laid claim to the San Juan Mountains for myself and my son, Arkansas, and Bladeforums. (Sorry Mikey, but you can use the mountains anytime.) :)

We claimed the San Juans
We'll claim your mountains too!

Here are two things a quote and a New Years resolution, each inspires the other.

"Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we might as well dance."

My New Years resolution is to be here for the next new year.

Thanks a lot for doing this!

Here's a bad picture of the knife I made for my dad (a folksy woodsman :)) for this Christmas; unfortunately, It wasn't finished on time, and I couldn't give it to him this year. I still have to work on a sheath, as the first one I made was...not good :o

Specs: 7.5" Convex grind Kephart, 1/8" 154CM (RC61), Maple burl, brass pins.

Have a great day and thanks again!

Thanks Anthony for putting up such a beautiful knife. I am not gonna post a pic. But I will put in my new years resolution.

Graduate this year. Been in school for almost thirty years.

Here's a poem I've always liked it's carved in a Sun dial at Wells' college

The shadow of my finger cast
Divides the future from the past:
Before it, sleeps the unborn hour
In darkness, and beyond thy power:
Behind its unreturning line,
The vanished hour, no longer thine:
One hour alone is in thy hands, -
The NOW on which the shadow stands.

My dad's favorite, or at least most repeated quote to me, "Son, everyone is good for something, even if that something is being a bad example." He enjoyed teaching his children lessons less painful by observing others who made poor or unwise decisions in life. Guess what I am telling my kids?......Thank you SunnyD for the shot at that fine Knife! Happy New Year!

Anthony,

Dude that is a thing of beauty. Thanks a whole lot for the chance at such a knife.

This first picture is of the Ira Trailhead where I like to walk in all of the different seasons. It's great exercise and it's beautiful.

This second picture is a section of the trail where you walk past some marshland area. There are all kinds of fish and snakes and goofy stuff in and around this area. This is why I always think it's important to save marshland / swampy areas.

This last picture is of the first snow we had here in Northeast Ohio. It was on November 17th around 11:20pm. By the next day we had about 8 inches. It was crazy.

Again, thanks much for the contest. That's one heck of a knife.

God Bless,
David

Thanks for the Contest, and Happy New Year!!! I wanted to share one of my favorite photos I've taken while out and about....

That's a wonderful looking slip joint Anthony. Thanks for the chance to win it.

Here's a shot of one of my backyard bird feeders this past August. These two were arguing over who the seed cake belongs to:

Here's one of my favorites:

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate;
And though I oft have passed them by,
A day will come at last when I
Shall take the hidden paths that run
West of the Moon, East of the Sun.

Thanks for the try.
As for my quote - "it is only the giving that makes you what you are"..Ian Anderson
I am going to try and have that be my motto for 2009.

Beautiful knife. Thanks for the chance. :)

Civilization is a stream with banks. The stream is sometimes filled with blood from people killing, stealing, shouting and doing the things historians usually record, while on the banks, unnoticed, people build homes, make love, raise children, sing songs, write poetry and even whittle statues. The story of civilization is the story of what happened on the banks. Historians are pessimists because they ignore the banks for the river. ~Will Durant

hey thanks alot for your generosity Anthony. this is one i found a few weeks ago when reading a book. i liked it so here it is, even if it sounds chummy.

“Love is patient and kind; it is not jealous or conceited or proud; love is not ill-mannered or selfish or irritable; love does not keep a record of wrongs; love is not happy with evil, but is happy with the truth. Love never gives up; and its faith, hope"

another one that i like is...i believe man will not only prevail but endure for he is a creature of compassion and respect.

then there is also...a man is not defined by his abilites that he uses but how he uses the abilities that he has...yes it is about superman now back off:D

Hi,

Thank you for your generosity! I'm no Poet, so I'll refrain. Words don't come easy to a man who works in steel.

So I'll just use a favored quote: If you think you know what is going on. Then you haven't been paying attention.

Thanks for the contest.

"The knowledge that the administration of justice and fairness no longer matters, must move a man to reject all he has known and accepted and risk becoming a pariah in the eyes of his peers. For to refuse that risk, to continue as he has, is to die within himself."

Thank you very much for the contest! Here are a few pictures I took a few kilometers from home:

I hope this link goes through, it is a song about a Randall made knife. I hope you enjoy it has some personal significance for me. As my father recently informed me that he ordered me a Randall made knife couple years ago, it won't be until 2010 but I love the gesture most of all.
