Figure out what the handles are made of. -----IT IS AGARITA---- nice guess zzyzzogeton.
Guess what I used for a finish. -------It is Super Glue ------- congrats wolf 5391.

my guess would be hickory!
but this could be the lights trickery
Hopefully your answer isn't contradictory!
 
I'm lousy at rhyming so I'll just go with some sort of oak for the handles and maybe some polyurethane for the handle finish
 
I'm guessing pine with a splash of lime, I'm so confident I'd bet a dime.
 
Pine and polyurethane, though each has been said separately, I'd have to say them both together to win the game... ;)

But I like haikus just fine

It sure looks like pine
so that guess would be mine
you finished the wood
with beeswax-looks good
and that's my guess, so fine
 
I am going to guess Osage for the wood and I will edit the finish in a munite (I have to look it up)
edit , handle finish is Tru oil

I'm no good with my wood recognition skills, but great contest.

Didn't notice I was supposed to guess the finish....I'm going to go with teek oil.
 
I say this yellowy goose
is handled with spruce
And the finish around its back
sure looks like shellac!
 
Cedar and poly, perhaps I see.

Today a clue is nicely given
To those that play this scavenge.
To that end I may be driven
To reveal the fullest challenge.

Native to Northern Mexico and to Texas.
Naturally yellow, can be used as a stypsis.
Probably New Mexico and also Arizona.
Plainly, the answers are not a trifecta.



No guess has been correct so far.
