Scars are natures way of reminding us that we can survive our own stupidity. Or so I have heard.
So show us your scars, your battle souvenirs, what happened right after you said "Hey, watch this...", your ever-present reminder of that epic drunk bender, when you were trying to appear on "World's Dumbest", or qualify for the Darwin Awards. Hell, any scar will do.
This contest is for a several year old, but never carried or used Cold Steel Safekeeper II. Winner must be able to legally possess, etc in their locale, CONUS free shipping, foreign may be asked to pay for shipping, etc, standard contest rules.

Safekeeper II by OptimanBene, on Flickr

Winner will be picked at random, on July 20.
Additional rules: Contest open to all, and you CAN'T make a new scar solely for the purpose of the contest. If it is a fresh, bleeding one, and you say it's an accident, then I believe you and then you're good to go.

This might take a while.

Reserved.

Ok here we go...

First (and second I guess) are on my left arm. I dont remember exactly how I got them but I do remember bleeding alot and hurting.

Next is on my left pointer finger, got it while stabilizing a pice of wood I was chopping with my machax. It healed up for the most part, the cut was also alot bigger.

Next is my left thumb. I was closing a slip joint and my thumb was over too much.

This one is on my side. During a fight I an into a sharp corner and cut myself (I did "win" though ;)) also had to crop out a lot if my side because its kind of hard to see.

Next is on my right shin. Got it while I was at a skatepark with my friends (I bmx FWIW) I'm pretty sure I was doing a wall ride when my foot slipped down. It also doesn't help that the studs (small bolts) I'm my pedal stick out about a 1/4 of an inch, but it wasn't a good day for me. Also have a large blood stain on a new pair of jeans.

Next one is on my left ankle. I'm not sure how it happened but I'm fairly sure I cut it on a stick in the woods.

Now for the last one (I think) This also happened at a skatepark. It involved a small kid on a scooter rolling in front of me when I was coming down a fairly large quarter pipe. In order not to hit the kid I laid my bike down and draggedmy elbow about 5 feet across the ramp. I didn't notice it at first until somebody pointed out the blood dripping from my arm. It doesn't show up well on camera but you can see it in real life.

I'll start :) 3 submissions starting with this gem.

I was grinding some welds on a piece for the frame on my old show truck...no gloves and a fresh flap disc. Had my hand a bit too close and the grinder decided it was hungry. In an instant it ground away a large chunk of flesh down to the tendon. Happened so fast I felt no pain so I ripped off the chunk of hamburger meat, put on a couple of bandaids and kept on working. Pain was an unwelcome visitor for the next few weeks...it friggin hurt!

Next up, an incident that could have been much worse than it was.

Hard to see since I've had these scars for 30 years. Little 2 year old Grizzly thought it would be a good idea to chop up some candles with his dad's freshly sharpened cleaver. Little did he know cleavers prefer flesh to wax...WHACK. I nearly lost all 4 of my fingers.

And finally, the one that nearly sent me to the big bear cave in the sky.

I couldn't get good light and easily take this picture due to it's location on my side. This scar is about 1/2" wide and runs nearly 5" long.

In 2006, the saturday after Thanksgiving I was bitten by the granddaddy of brown recluse spiders. Rolled over on it in bed. Over the next few days I contracted Hemolytic Anemia from my body's response to the bite and nearly died.

At the hospital, when they cut me open to remove the necrotic tissue, they had to remove a softball size piece of the side of my chest. They did not stitch or staple it, it had to heal from the inside out due to the size. It took 8 6x6 gauze pads soaked in saline to fill the void at the very first.

I like this!!
I'm still like a kid, always covered in scars and bruises!! I'll try and get some pics of a couple good ones
I play hard and besides, chicks dig scars
I would like to enter for bragging rights and respectfully pass on the generous give away so someone who can use and enjoy it more than I can, will.
Again, great thread!!

A few years ago, I was trying to adopt another dog. The previous owners said he might have some dog aggressive behaviors, so I asked for a meet and greet between the owners and our dogs. Pleasantries between the humans were exchanged. The other dog looked stiff and aggressive, so I had mine sit. Bent down to have the other dog approach us and say hi, but the other dog lunged for my pup before any butt sniffing. I grabbed my pup and put my arm around him. Bigger dog bumped into my arm, landed, and turned around and came again, growling the whole time. Long time dog owners know the sound between fighting sounds and "I'm out for blood" sounds. This one was not playing. The other owners managed to yank the other dog away, apologizing the whole time. We parted ways, and as I got into the car I noticed my sweater arm was torn where the dog bumped into me. Bummed, I checked to see if the tear was clean and if I could patch it up later. I felt the rip, and noticed it was wet. Probably some dog drool, the tear was probably because the teeth caught in the commotion. Took off my sweater. Blood was dripping down to my elbow. Wheeeelp, time to get checked for rabies!

Wound looked worse than it was. It was wide, but shallow. Breeding grounds for keloids. Here's a shot from about 4 years ago:

Here's a shot today, it seems like it's settled down over the years. Not as bumpy.

You just had to pick now to do this contest huh? Had it been two weeks ago you would've properly been able to see how my vampiric kukri stabbed me in the palm of my hand.

this was a few years ago, just after the cast came off. Don't have a recent pic, it's just a white line.
chopped my hand and cut the tendon, fun times.

This was from an actual knife fight I was in as a teenager. As you can tell the blade barely missed the tendon. The knife (a kitchen knife) actually stuck through the bones but did not pierce the palm. I pulled away so fast I actually took the knife out of the offenders hand and it was stuck in there while he got my scissor blade across his forearm. It was so surreal, that moment of pulling the blade out, I'll never forget it. The wound is an old one but the most memorable, and at the time (when my hand was smaller) was actually really cool because we all know....chicks dig scars.

Thanks for the GAW and the chance!

Even if it does, I don't want to see it:eek:! Besides, that's not really an accidental scar. Or I sure hope it's not, 'cause that would raise a whole bunch questions this forum might not be the place for.....

Haha, just having a little fun. Few years ago I crashed my motorcycle. Got lucky and walked away (here's to helmets, folks, I'd be dead without one). My pics from that episode:
