I wanted a way to give back to the wonderful members of this forum and wanted it to be something special. So I am giving away the very knife that got me started on traditional knives and knives in general.

I lucked into this beauty at a garage sale and had didn't know anything about it (or knives in general) so I did some googlefu and ended up right here on the traditional forum. 5 years later and I know more about knives that I ever imagined!

In the spirit of the giveaway, tell us how you ended up here in the traditional forum or maybe tell us a story about what got you interested in knives in general.

Winner will be chosen sometime around Christmas. Please post I'm in. All members welcome, and I encourage some of you that typically say "not an entry" to throw your hat in!

Some pictures of the knife:

4 5/8" closed. Very nice SLICY 12C27 blade! DARK Ebony wood covers

And the winner is post number 44!

I'm in...

I've always kind if been into knives being an old country boy but how I landed on the forum is as follows:

My father passed in July of 06. He was a disabled veteran, well I guess about two years ago now I found a knife in am old chest he had and came here to do some research on it and voila, the rest is history. Thanks for the giveaway it's a beaut!!

What a beauty, thanks for the chance.

Dad always had pocket knives, and I always wanted one. When I got my Cub Scout knife I wanted another knife because knives should have clip-point blades.
I recently bought my perfect folder, a Boker Evergreen 2-bladed "stockman". Then I saw the GEC Eurekas with spear-point blades, and I really want one of those.

I found my way to Traditionals from Tomahawks and axes, which I joined after buying a strange axe (Maine pattern; I'd never seen one).

There had always been a Victorinox or two floating around, but the first traditional knife I bought myself was an Otter-Messer sheepsfoot sailor knife in white smooth bone. Then I bought a couple more single-blade knives (an Opinel and Douk-douk). I found this forum by browsing the latest posts on the bladeforums main page (which I had heard of from Youtube videos). The posts here were the most interesting, so I eventually made an account and started getting a bit more involved. I saw the post on Rough Riders so I ordered a few and it's been multiple blades for me ever since. Thanks for the giveaway.

I'm in! Thanks for the opportunity!! I've alway been into knives, mostly newer styles like keeshaw, spyderco ect... Alway had one in my pocket just in case a stubborn box or piece of tape came my wAy! For a long time I've been a collector of zippos and kept hearing the name case. I decided to do a little research and decided I needed to own one. That's what brought me here. Don't get me wrong, I still like the newer knives, but by far, prefer traditional slip joints! There's just something to say about the beauty and craftsmanship of a slippy vs a new production "tactical" knife! I blame most of you here for my love for traditionals!!

Probably like most people I joined because I lost or broke a knife and was researching a new one, I can't remember. Looking around traditionals got me to thinking about some of the older ones I had lying around and the old Wenger I had as a young kid...rest is history, etc. etc.
i started becoming more and more interested in the old knives I knew were lying around from grandfathers and great-grandfathers so then I started learning about brands, patterns, construction/materials, and history. Five years ago I couldn't have told you the difference between carbon and stainless...and now here I am with an accumulation of mostly bone and wood carbon steel knives with very few locks ;)
That said, I have never owned any kind of Laguiole and so I thank you very much for the chance, I'm in!

Im in! That is a beautiful Ebony Laguiole, no bull ;-), very generous of you to part with it.

I got here because I was searching for information about Case Stag Damascus Peanuts a while back. I was interested in a small stag because it reminds me of my dads pocket knife. One thing led to another, as you know. Ive been having fun being a channel for knives, some come to me on their way to being gifted to others, some stick around my small accumulation pile.

Never deny someone the opportunity to give :-)

I'm in -thx.

I can't remember how the addiction started but over the years it got more and more expensive :/

I'm in, because I've been interested in lagoile type knives even since before I joined or knew of bladeforums, yet still have none.

I have a Case Tiny Trapper in Bonestag. My dad gave it to me but I never knew what it was, other than that it was a trapper. I first started looking on the traditional forum to try to glean more information about that knife. Now I'm a huge fan of traditionals and frequent this forum.

Thank you for the chance!

I'm in.

I found my way to this forum via the recommendation of a very nice member from whom I purchased my fir CRK Sebenza from. Three Sebenza and a multitude of knives later, I am still in love with my knife collecting hobby. I've made some good connections a from this forum and met a few members with whom I communicate with off the forums. Love it and keep up the great work!

Beautiful knife. I'm in.

My Dad and Grandfather always carried pocket knives and from an early age, I was always fascinated with their knives. Then my Dad gave me my first pocket knife (an Uncle Henry) when I was about 9 years old and I've been hooked ever since.

I found my way to the traditional forum for the first time while trying to find out more about Le Theirs knives, and over the next several weeks kept coming back to browse through pictures of the amazing knives that everyone posts. It took a while before I finally worked up the courage to post, but I'm glad that I did as I'm impressed almost on a daily basis by kindness, generosity and respectfulness of the members of this forum.

Great giveaway. Thanks!

Thanks for the chance, sir! I'm in :) As for my original interest in knives... Way back when I was a kid, guns and knives facinated me. Later in life, really got into the firearm scene, though still dabbled in knives. Then, more recently, mother reaching her final battles with cancer, drove me deep into my knife hobby to give me something to focus on when I needed the break from the reality of having to lose my mom, which I loved so dearly. During that time, I wound up on two knife sites to help me learn more, but drifted from the other, and have considered this one my online knife home. Mom passed away, and I continue the hobby because I enjoy the collecting of different traditional knives, and continue as in honor of my mom. I am 48 years old, and still miss having that wonderful woman in my life (my mom). Thanks again for the chance :)

I'm in. Thanks for the giveaway.

I honestly can't remember how I got here. Maybe getting interested in knives and lurking for awhile, but I really don't remember. :o

Awesome GAW!

How end up here? No idea. All I know is that my wallet has been draining and my collection has been multiplying by the day. :D

Thank you for the great giveaway. Always fun to read these kind of responses. I'd be honored to win and use such a treasured knife.

As for how I came to these parts I am not exactly sure. I think I was just browsing some of the sub forums and came across this one. The maturity of the members as well as the interesting discussions got me hooked. I have been an almost exclusive traditional blade user for 3 or so years now.

I'm in. I wasn't allowed to have a pocket knife when I was a kid so whenever I traded something with one of my friends for a knife I had to hide it from my father. I have been a fan of traditional pocketknives ever since.

I'm in.

I dropped by to look at traditional knives. I made my first post ever in the traditional forum, and was immediately infracted, and had the photo I posted deleted. (the post was about Douk Douk's. I posted a pic with the CS Pocket Bushman which I thought was enough like a Douk Douk to fit in).

I did not come back for a long time! Finally I wandered back in because of the prompting of one of my friends. (J. Oeser who started making knives, then slip joints).

I asked a question about GEC knives.

Another member who shall remain anonymous (cough, Flymon, cough), sent me a Northfield Yellow Rose #23.......

I was flabbergasted! I have not looked back. Great subforum, and the one that gets the majority of my time lately.
