Wow this is crazy generous mate!
My favorite holiday is New Year's. Thanksgiving would be a close second but I gotta go with NYE. People all gathering together, reflecting on their past and futures, making silly or serious resolutions to change their lives.
I'll do two stories since one is a bit hard to listen to.
Last year, new years eve 12/31/2014 I had made a resolution to end my own life. At that point I was a broke, unemployed, desperate, morbidly obese alcoholic with nothing to live for. I decided that there was nothing else for me and I would simply end everything. Luckily I failed that and am in a wonderful place where I have improved my state of being. As of today I have a great job, money in the bank, I lost 87 pounds since May, am almost a year sober, and the happiest I've ever been. Now onto the pleasant story!
New years eve 12/31/2004 I remember spending with my older brother and my mother. My brother and I have always been close since we were raised by a single mother for many years before she met our stepfather. I remember that year we just sat together in the living room watching the countdown and talking for hours on end while waiting for new years to hit. I remember that night so fondly, not because of any particular thing we said but just that for over four hours we laughed our asses off together, we shared memories, talked about resolutions, and teased each other. It was one of the goofiest, happiest nights we had as a family and even though none of us actually accomplished any of our resolutions, we still enjoyed the experience.
A little bit of christmas gunhammer goodness
Sorry for the long ramble, I'm in for the win!
