In Gilroy California you can get garlic ice cream during the giant Garlic Festival. Many many years ago my brother and I were driving through to go to an air show and you could smell the garlic miles away. Way better than the chicken farm we had to pass daily when they bussed us to school.

At one of the lowest points of my life, bills piling up and desperate for work, I had to resort to chicken catching. And I tell ya, it was a good long while after leaving that job before the smell of a chicken dinner no longer nauseated me.

That would be sad as chicken makes up a large portion of my protein intake. Of course, too much of a good thing is no longer a good thing. I’d imagine catching implies all the other things required to convert a chicken into a meal. Those must have been some hard days.

Nope, just catch half a dozen at a time, hand them to the vaccinating guy, and do it all over again, all shift. But eight hours running around in a chicken coop with a thousand chickens whose smell is mingled with the poop smell of a thousand chickens was enough to turn me off any and all chicken smell for a good while.

Ah, I misread that. Still, hard days.

Anyway, chicken farms have a strong aroma, to put it mildly. Only thing harsher is pig droppings. That’ll make you think someone jabbed a sharp stick up your nose.

I have to clean up peacock droppings off my front porch bout daily now. I'm amazed at the size of the pile and how often one largish bird can produce in a day.....

okay on topic now congrats to the winner.....

We can have some thread drift now that the main event has concluded.

I would like to thank you for making this possible as well! The generosity around here never stops surprising me. I’ll definitely be paying it forward in the future as well. 😊

I stopped worrying because jbmonkey was here. TBD just doesn't have the same calming effect. 😉
