An update: My surface grinder and miscellaneous other shop goodies are spoken for. My wife is ecstatic. The stress/trauma of our future downsizing has been diminished dramatically for both of us. Like many people here I revere tools and the thought of them being disposed of randomly has haunted me for a while.

As an aside - the fellow who contacted me told a compelling and earnest story. I'm sure my stuff will be put to good use down the line.
