GLADIUS - What do you think?

I think its a beautiful Blade,but being a living week to week type of guy and the 300,00 PLUS markup i'll be never able to own one,600.00 I could squeeze it would hurt but could happen.900.00 to 950.00 Im done,Im so discusted I think my last busse will be the SAR3LE. but people are people and I cant change that The SAR3LE i was on line that night only to loose out again paid 75.00 extra the next day just to have .If you an't rich your not ever going to be a hog.Sad In 2 years i bought 21 busse have over 8000.00 in them,sold guns other knives collection,didnt pay rent certain months for a Busse.I bet their only worth 6000.00,mark ups killing the average joe smoe collectors.Sorry to you die hards for these words, but after seeing a 350.00 mark upon a deamer of a blade I love to own just proved to me Im a moron.to even think of how i can come up with that money.

That is the whole point of being a hog, Is being dedicated enough and putting in the time to score one of the good ones at normal price.

Don't have to be rich, just have to be there, and luck out.

I probably could have gotten my mits on a CG Gladius at original price. I for sure had a chance to buy every single one of the Sar 3's but dumped my cart.

I scored a Basic 11 (still waiting on details for delivery), I was not there at the show, and I am certainly not rich.

I do hate the double mark up I see occasionally.......I just don't buy them like that. I have not paid mark up for any of my infi really. Just keep an eye on the exchange and be patient. Don't buy anything right away. Most models eventually get sold by some one needing the cash at normal prices + shipping etc. Maybe a tiny bit extra.

At original prices all the stuff at the show was sure a steal though! Just wish I had more cash to shell out for a Pre order on a Gladius and a CG KZ

As BFt said, bide your time and if you get lucky you'll beat liu kang to the punch on one for sale at normal prices. That man is a machine I swear. Either way, without trying to sound like I'm preaching, if you want something badly enough, you'll focus all your energy on it and get it one way or another.

Satin Gladius is beautiful, but can't see it being much use as a user unless the zombie apocalypse comes... Gotta chop off their heads with SOMETHING...

Its 16 " blade and 7" handle for 23" OAL.

It has a great feel and balance. No scales so no idea on weight.

If I was a collector the Gladius would be the one, but for now I'm only a user (no extra $ laying around). I think it's a great take on an historic blade.

Excellent advice.

And ... there are still some of us, out here, that re-sell for the original price we paid (plus shipping and insurance). Not many of us ... but there are some.:o

For me, it's a hobby and not a business. I make money in other ways.:)

+1, and I have yet to buy from a dealer other than Busse/BCS, though I've been buying from other individual forumites for over a decade now.

That said, I don't mind the dealer involvement at all, for several reasons:

1) Dealers provide a ready supply of blades, agreed at high prices, but if I decide I need a blade, especially a user, there's a good chance I can find what I need on a dealer's thread as long as I'm willing to pay the premium. I like knowing that option is out there;

2) Dealer prices actually make "fair market" prices look good, i.e. the prices at which the rest of us sell, which is a competitive edge for true "individual" sellers when we need to move a blade along; and

3) Anytime someone buys at retail on the speculation that prices will appreciate, he is taking a significant risk. No one has to buy from a dealer unless he wants to--the dealer is powerless to take advantage of anyone without that person's knowing cooperation.

So to me, to say a dealer is wrong to ask a higher price, isn't a judgement I understand or support. If their price is high, don't buy. If you need a knife and the only way you can get it is from a dealer, at least it gives you an option.

Just my $0.02--

In my opinion a work of art with functionality...practical no, but does that stop me from wanting one? NO.

The Gladius looks really cool.
I cant afford a "wall hanger" right now.
The knives I grab are "meant" to be users,
although there are a few that havent made it
to the field yet ;)

I would say the gladius weighs about 4 pounds

I just got on a my digital scales upstairs for people mind you, and the difference with vs without holding the gladius was exactly 3 lbs with a huge margin for error:D

Most of my visits to the oval office give a difference of about 3 lbs too, also with a huge margin of error. :p:D

Sorry brother, you set yourself up too perfectly. :p:eek:

LMAO!:D:thumbup:

I guess I did:cool::p

;):D

It's very cool but the double edge and price point would make me quite leery of using it..and honestly I'm not spending that sort of cash on a blade I'm not going to use! Each scuff on the gladius would make me cringe. It doesn't seem practical, but then again I don't believe it was meant to be. A blade like that is exactly what it appears to be...a bad!@# sword meant for hacking limbs off.

Maximus likes it!!!
