Glock vs. Sig

As a civilian, I've owned glocks & sigs. I always go back to the glocks. Simple, dependable and a reset that I like and prefer (esp. as compared to the S&W and Springfield plastic guns).

These are lifesaving tools, and if they ain't broke . . . .

P.S. Sounds like your armorer has found the solution to a problem that doesn't exist.

Hmm, I'm not in the enforcement industry, but bought my first Glock, a model 19 almost 16 years ago and fell in love with them instantly due to their simplicity and flawless operation.

Recently though, I acquired a used Sig P229 and have really enjoyed it. Great engineering, easy operation, SOLID construction.

I have a hard time saying anything negative about either brand. I hope that whatever you end up with works well for ya:thumbup:

Just looked the prchase date of my P226 in .40 up, 3/19/99. I love it. Feels good in hand, real accurate and durable. The only thing I did to it was add a set of Meprolite Sites.

In my opinion two of the best defensive firearms made. Either way you will be well armed..that being said Glocks are lighter, simpler, hold more ammo, shorter trigger reset and as reliable and weather resistant as is possible. I currently own a 17 and have owned 2 G19s, a G26 and a G23. i preferred the 19s and the 17. also love 1911s but thats another story.

I've owned both, now only own SIGs. It's just personal preferance, one is not better than the other.

Speaking as a long time gunsmith, I would have to say comparing a Sig to a Glock is like comparing a Caddie to a Chevvy. Both are reasonably good vehicles and will get you from point A to point B. Same with Glock and Sig but there's just more quality in the Sig. I recently took a deep breath, shocked my checkbook, and bought a HK 45 for the same reason--quality. If a Sig is a Caddie, then the HK is a Rolls Royce. Once I got the HK and shot it, I was happy. I found my dream mate and all other 'women' are plain janes by comparison.

I've got a SigPro 2022 and I like it much more than the glocks I've shot. It's a personal preference though.

The 2022 has a polymer lower and feels VERY comfy. It's available in .40 under another model number.

I don't know if this model is ramping down on production, or what. But it'd be a great LEO weapon.

I like mine, X5 All Around (9mm).

Couple more Sigs that I have had but sold.

Glocks are easier to shoot, especially at speed. They are also easier to work on and get parts for.

Could be a couple of reasons. Sigs are more accurate, and its not as minute a difference as the glockaholics would like you to think. Secondly, since they have the ergonomics of a 2x4, glocks don't fit many people well. A larger number of people are going to find the sig more comfortable. Finally, the reliability mystique of the glock is irrelevant for police use. Any modern handgun even moderately maintained is going to be able to go through a couple of mags without a problem. Thats far more rounds than any cop is ever going to need. So if you take away this, then the glock doesn't have much going for it.

I have a 226 that I have had no issues with. All of the cops here have them so magazines and various holsters are readily available. I like a well assembled Browning Hi Power better than any of the modern pistols.
Maybe they're just going to get everyone on the exact same pistol, NATO style, for when the police state goes into full force.;)

Gotta run ! A black helicopter just fle....Oh wait. It was just a Toucan:p

Sigs are more accurate

Highly subjective. Depends on the monkey behind the trigger. I'm sure you're a wonderful shot. But I can promise you there are shooters out there that can outshoot you with your sig and them with their Glocks. Accuracy with a pistol has much to do with the shooter and trigger control. Sig does make a few highly accurized models for target or competition use, but no department will be carrying these. You're basic sig is no more accurate than your average Glock in the right hands.

My duty gun is a Sig, off duty I carry my Glock. During quals there is always someone with a malfunction with there Sig. Dont get me wrong Sig is a very nice gun you just have to keep it clean.

Incorrect. Sigs are much more mechanically accurate than glocks. This has been demonstrated ad nauseum on many a gun forum. Gaston can't change the laws of physics. If you decrease tolerances for reliability, then accuracy is going to suffer.

Of course if you put a flunkie behind the trigger its not going to matter, but thats not what we are talking about here.

Not that many people can shoot to the true full accuracy potential of most of the current production guns anyway, including Glocks, so that is a non-issue. Ransom rest test results aren't the same as having a real person hold it and fire.

They are both great handguns, but it is all personal preference.

If they are going to change, I would vote they let the people that are carrying them decide which one they want.

You dont need a ransom rest to see the difference between glocks and sigs. Thats the point.

Yeah, Sigs are more accurate.

Much too often I hear people say "the gun is more accurate than I am" or something to that effect. That bothers me to no end. Of course if you suck, no gun will make you not suck, but a more accurate gun will make you suck less.
