so i own a sage 1 and it really isnt the most glove friendly knife. i wanted to know what spydercos (or any knives in general if ya want) are glove friendly. i wear mechanix gloves and i switch between my winter impact mechanix to my thin mechanix gloves and when im wearing my thick pair it is dang near impossible to open and close the knife without taking the glove off. with my thin pair there isnt that much of a problem though (as expected) please dont say paramilitary 2 and my law blade length is 3.5 inches. thank you spyderco community

Sage 3 or Manix 2. Would be good choice's...

For me, its easiest to open and close these knife's, with gloves on.
I think with the lock choice, comes with free swinging blade's.
Pull the lock and swings open and closed.

Military, hands down. ParaMilitary 2 isn't bad (One of the better ones), but not quite as good. The entire Salt series has extra large Spydie holes and are also good, but again, the Military is easily the most glove friendly knife I've ever handled.

I find my Sage 3 and Manix2 (Standard and LW) to be challenging to use with really thick gloves. Specifically the lock...they're easy to open, but not as much so to close. It gets cold up here though and I sometimes have to wear thick 3 fingered mitts that have their own internal insulating mitt liner. The Millie is the most easily operated in said gloves out of any of my 44 Spydies.

I think the only reasonable answer is that you move to a carry friendly state.... like Indiana! :D

I've not any problems opening and closing "the knife that shouldn't be named" wearing gloves. Of course the OP is spot on with the Sage 1, and I will add my DB is a bit of pain as well.

But I'm not above using two hands to open any knife so this is really a non issue for me.

oh i dont mind opening my knives with 2 hands. there are alot of times that i ONLY have 1 hand to use and the other is holding something heavy or im hanging on to something.

the gayle bradley 1) is made for people who where gloves! as i use one of mine when hiking and back packing in the woods, and i think its under the 4'' mark as well.

Don't (some)ppl clearance the handle, to get to the liner lock, with bare hands?

I have yet to get one, just asking..

I'd go PM2 if you can't go with the Military. The GB would be easy to open, but the lock is definitely not the easiest to actuate, even without gloves on.

The Assist is easy to use with gloved hands. I keep one in my fire gear. I can open it was fire or extrication gloves. It has the cobra hood on the hole and it helps . I don't know what your trade is so i'm not sure if the edge style will work for you. Also I see you are also from Illinois, we don't have a law on length here so you would be ok carrying the military.

oh really? where i live (wont disclose for personal reasons) i had a cop tell me it was 3.5 and threaten to take my knife from me. it was a 4 inch blade.

I'll vote for the Manix. That knife was made for gloved hands. The scalloping on the liners bite into gloves very well. The lock cage is textured for better purchase. Lastly, the opening hole is large and well clear of the scales on both sides.

Well, state law does not say anything about length, but I think municipalities can set laws for their communities. That being said I'm no lawyer so I can't say for sure. There is some good info here on the forums with more knowledgeable people. I will say I live in central Il like Peoria area and haven't ever had any problems. Here is a link for Il laws, hope it helps. http://www.knifeup.com/illinois-knife-law/
