Go Big Or Go Home....What Do You Guys Think?

Good stuff here! I like them all. I hope the big one has a hand & a half handle, that or sell it to one BMF ! LOL

The handle easily fits both my hands its just over 7 inches long.
Im stoked for when this things done. But dam its gonna be heavy lol.

Little bit of an update.
Iv been talking to our own Will Nease about getting the Mammoth ground.
So hopefully this works out and ill post pics as soon as possible.

AntCaps,

Awesome designs, especially the large blade. How did you transfer your design files to the water jet computer? Is there a specific program you used?

I agree with this poster,
... Cleanest, nicest cut you've ever seen!

I had a shop water jet some titanium sheet for me. They were just simple straight lines cuts, so no files were needed. WJ cutting is great, no heating of material and excellent edge results.

AntCaps very cool designs! I too really like the kiridashi ones.

As for the grail knife, pokesalad had a great recommedation, the Nautilus totally fits.

FYI, Robert Fulton (yep the steam guy) named the first sub the Nautilus in 1800 after Napolean commished him to build it. Jules Verne honored him by using the name in his books in the 1870s+.

ps- Don't use "zombie" or "killer" in the name of your grail knife please. It's been played out...

Stormbird I use AutoCAD to do all my drawings i dont know if its anybetter than any other program but iv had like 4 years of training on it in school so its what i know and use.
I didnt really have to transfer it well i did but i didnt have to convert it at all, the computers of the waterjet at the shop i use can read the files I email them.
Gazz98 I like the name Nautilus but im kinda leaning towards calling it the Mammoth or Possibly the Kodiac Im kind of immature sometimes and both those names scream blunt power to me and i feel like thats what this thing represents my immature attraction to damage and chaos lol.... at least theres no zombies involved right?

Ok so im bringing my old thread back to life because there is an update! finally!
So thanks to Mr. William Nease my cleaver now has the main edge bevel ground.

so since its going to be a few weeks until i get to my tools to be able to start finishing the blade I i hought id figure out the handle lay out.
So i drew some matching handles on the computer and then made them a bit bigger to give myself some room for error.

Than I printed out the drawing on a 1:1 scale and arranged them on a slab of black linen micarta I purchased at the recent knife show i also have a slab of black G10 i may use.

So once I have access to a band saw ill cut the slab in 2 and than trim off some excess and start profiling the handles.

Any tips for the handles Oh! i forgot to mention im also waiting on some 1/8th inch copper sheet im going to use as a liner.

I like the big one a lot, but I could see that rear tip causing some problems in use.... namely poking into your hand. let us know how it works out.

hey sniper,
ill try to get a pic of it in hand but the tip is pretty far from my fingers and iv been fondling this thing for a couple days now. Its probably possible but i don't know how much actual use this beast will get so im not to worried.

and shotgun,
i think that's the first plausible use iv heard for this thing lol, "here Nonna use this"

I just had this image flash through my mind:

Midnight, a dark alley in Ontario...

Mugger (pulling out a folding knife): "Gimme your wallet, mother f***er, or I'll cut you!"

AntCap (pulling out his new jumbo knife): "Nay, foul miscreant! 'Tis not I who shall bleed this night! Get away, blackguard, or I shall cleave thee in twain!"

I guess I have a weird imagination...:D

Really awesome chopper. Can't wait to see it finished.:cool:

lol G.Scott
Insert book of eli action sequence here.
I cant wait to see it finished either :)

Today im heading home and beginning to finish sand the blade or at least as far as i can take it before heat treat.
Also going to be turning a chunk of copper into a lanyard tube since i cant find the right size tube any where, oh well any excuse to use my lathe is a good one to me.
Ill take some pics of it if i remember to.

Looking great!
I think the Black Linen Micarta with Blue G-10 liners would be sweet!
I'm not into fixed blades and I want one lol.
