Go to folder 2" and under

I've been debating on moving to a location that I'm still unsure of the knife laws. The last I heard the law was under 2". For those of you that typically have this same dilemma, what is your go to folder. I'm just starting to search around and my requirements would be:

-Under 2"
-Most useable cutting edge possible
-No fixed blades/push blades
-Handle size for large hands
-No autos (at this time but not ruling them out)
-Would like to find one that has more purpose than just a knife (i.e. bottle opener, pry bar end, screwdriver tips)
-Blade steel isn't an issue but would prefer something a little more tough
-Also would prefer a locking blade until I rule it out completely

I'm thinking something like the Rexford RUT, Kershaw Cinder, SAK, CS Micro Recon 1 and if I do decide on an auto possibly a Pro-tech Half-Breed..

Would also be open to the possibility of a custom made but not exactly who specializes in sub 2" folders.

DF2 Cutting Edge:1.875" If that's not compliant, I guess the Manbug or Chicago would be my choice.

Some great choices already mentioned. The Dragonfly gives an amazing grip with blade choil. But better find out if the municipality measures cutting edge, or tip to handle.

The Curtiss Nano. Or the well done budget version, Boker Plus Nano. I think the Boker version is great for the price. But I prefer to use a lanyard on it so my pinky has something to wrap around at the end of the grip.

May also try out the little Kershaw Chive. A bit less than 2" edge. Assisted Open, blade latch to keep from opening in pocket, and frame lock. I think mine is Stainless with Sandvic steel.

On the traditional front, it's hard to go wrong with a trusty Peanut. Multiple blade options, but no lock. For a bit fancier, look at the GEC Beagle. There are also Peanut sized one blade locking Barlow's. Traditional look, small blade, with lock....what's not to like.

For a multi-tool, I keep a Leatherman Squirt Ps4 on my keychains. Must be careful using the blade with very soft slipjoint spring. But the pliers and other tools are invaluable and used regularly by me.

CRKT has the Guppy series. Has a small "mystery steel" blade, but it's so darn cute. Crescent Wrench, flat/philips screwdriver, carabiner, bottle opener.

Spyderco Dragonfly 2

Standard VG10 is good but I prefer ZDP189.

Or consider the Dragonfly Salt in H1 if rust or corrosion is a concern.

I wear a Large glove, and I really like the Boker Nano and Subcom. Both will fit into a coin pocket and ride there quite easily, same with a Dragonfly--though that one is easily my Most Often Lost knife. For a small blade you usually get a small handle, as noted above, and that can be annoying. The Cold Steel Tuff cheats this a bit by making a 2 inch cutting edge on the blade followed by a large choil. It's the only 2 incher I have that will actually let me get a 4 finger grip without fooling around with a fob on the end.

I would like to think the Dragonfly in a variant steel other than VG10 would be my go to but I think the blade would be measured from the handle and a little to long, not just the cutting edge. I will look into it though. & Since you seem to be a Dragonfly aficionado, can a regular blade from a FRN handle be swapped for the G10 one?

I've seen it done, but never myself. Back locks can vary per knife, but I've never heard of it being an issue with the DF2.

I'm not sure what your price limit is, but there are a couple awesome looking customs that are available on Arizona Custom Knives: http://imgur.com/a/CK0iC

I don't want to direct link because I think it breaks the rules but I inserted the makers' names into the album above.

Don't go live in a place like that if you've got any choice whatever .
It says so much about how little you matter to the local powers .
First , they take your weapons ...then they take the rest !
