Godamighty! Desert ironwood stolen at Blade Show

I was at the blade show and spoke to the guy from ADI who just had his ironwood stolen. He said he had an idea of who stole the wood but wouldn’t say. The next day I came by his table and he told me what happened: Sandy Tutor was caught on cam stealing 3 heavy boxes of ironwood from his table and throwing them into the dumpster. 3 months of hard work. I really feel for this guy after hearing all the suffering he and his family have gone through, and believe it is he who is being threatened and harassed by Sandy.

Apparently, Sandy fired up some rebels without a cause, gave them a cause, and unleashed them to do his dirty work: spreading horrible rumors on the web to try and ruin his rep in the knife maker community. I’ve read a usn thread on this as well, with skepticism. But if you carefully read all the accusations against Rob and check out a couple of things you’ll start to see a pattern of false accusations.

For example, Sandy's guy published on USN that Rob copied his website verbatim. I’ve been buying from Rob’s website for years (ADI). Sandy’s, sight however, is so new it is still under development. Here’s another bogus claim: Sandy went so far as to say Rob threatened his life and filed a non harassment claim with the courts: basically attempting to restrict Rob from their supplier sources. Rob contested and a judge dissolved the claim 2 weeks later, after Rob proved the claims were completely false. Judge said Rob could counter, but Rob refused. Another USN: Rob was accused of stealing Sandy’s ironwood and breaking into his safe. Rob says he has never been accused of stealing anything. Rob said he even checked crime records at Pima County Justice Court in Tucson and found no theft report made by Sandy or his wife to date (6-10-05). Check it out….The claim is completely false…

USN: someone wrote that Sandy basically took Rob in from off the streets, gave him a job and put him through school. Rob says he and Sandy were neighbors and he helped Sandy on a handful of occasions: only when Sandy was in a pinch. To date, Rob says he has only worked 12-15 days for Sandy, total. And if anyone believes Sandy put rob through a prestigious graduate program, with tuition costs exceeding $65,000, they must be ill.

Finally, June 3rd 2005 Atlanta Blade Show. Sandy Tudor is caught on cam stealing nearly 100lbs of ironwood burl: nearly $10,000 worth: all confirmed by the Cobb County Police Dept. Sandy was arrested and charged with a felony crime and spent the rest of the weekend in jail. Rob recovered 90%. He didn’t even press charges against the guy. Check it out: Ref. Case No. 05082462.

Rob and his family continue to get creepy phone calls at home and business: day and night. Rob say’s he will not be intimidated, he will stay in the business and that he prays for the harassment to end.

HIND SIGHT IS 20/20
Had a conversation with Rob again. Asked why the hell this Sandy guy is harassing him so intensely. Said it all started after the 2005 Vegas Show. Apparently Sandy has monopolized the ironwood market at the shows for over 20 years. All the ironwood at the knife shows is either sold by Sandy or by one of his supplier, such as K&G, TKS, Tru Grit, and WSSI. When Sandy saw the quality of Rob’s ironwood he got threatened and turned ice cold. Been trying to intimidate Rob and run out of the business ever since, and obviously he’ll lie-cheat and steal to do it. In fact, if you’ve read the USN messages the content is all about putting Rob out of business - to discredit Rob and ADI ---- buyers beware, etc., Then there is a link to Sandy’s website with a note: do not buy from Rob, by all your ironwood from Sandy. There is nothing said about gaining justice on alleged offences. As they say, hind sights 20-20 and this scandal is now clear as a bell.

If you or anyone you know heard the slander from the horses mouth, please contact Rob at ironwoodman@cox.net. Or send a message describing what you heard. Your identity will remain anonymous and the information concealed. It will only be used to support Rob, if he ends up in court again.
 
I don't have a dog in this fight and don't know either man personally... But, Darthblader7, I think you're going to raise your own suspicions here with NO info in your profile about who you are and this being your first 2 posts.

Disclaimer: I don't know the involved parties either.

With that said, there are (at least) two sides to every story. In my experience the truth usually lies somewhere in the middle of the two.

There do exist, however, individuals who get very po'd when a new business attempts to move in on what another business sees as it's clientele or 'market'. And judging by the websites, the upstart was doing a pretty good job of it, at least in the online world.

It's not unheard of that ...what's been spelled out is exactly what's happening here ...a business attempting to protect itself from competition by whatever means possible.

Listen to Nick. I think we all have a pretty good idea who Darthblader is. When are people going to learn pretending not to be themselves does nothing but hurt their credibility no matter how truthfull their story is. I don't know either person in this story from Adam.

OK guys, admittedly, I have been as curious as the next fellow but maybe it's time we let this one die out.

Regardless what side of the fence you may be on concerning an opinion on this remember that BOTH parties are not getting very good press out of it. It is hurting BOTH of their businesses, regardless of who may be right and who may be wrong.

Buy ironwood from who you may and let these fellows work it out. Evidently there is bad blood here and fortunately none of it's mine.

So this guy Rob started his business in 1998 (says his website) and managed to stay afloat for 7+ years despite somebody else having monopolized the market. Then in 2005, 7+ years after they started their business, Rob finally improved quality of his wares to make the monopolist feel threatened so that aforementioned monopolist in turn resorted to cheap shots (like trying to scare customers away) and has been doing that ever since, that would be few months now. Am I reading this correctly ? :confused:
 
I think the law does a good job at what they do most the time ..

I'll leave it up to them. to do what's right... :)
 
After reading all this info for the past week or so I have to agree with those that say this is a shame for all parties involved.I will also say that law enforcment could have handled it a little differently too.Making a big "scene" at the show was not necessary IMHO.Not a big fan of the "making an example" technique!!That put a dark shadow over the event that wont leave for quite some time,never in some people's minds.How will this effect future shows and perceptions that our customers have?I wish this would just go away. :confused:
