Gogators766, bad to do business with

I hate to do this, but I'm not sure what else I can potentially do. I sold a boker albatross to a gentleman on the forum here who goes by the username Gogators766. He claimed he sent a money order and I have not received it after 7 days. I agreed to ship at the same time because we have about the same number of positive feedbacks. However he now has my knife, and I have attempted to contact him on more than one occasion. His response is simply "Calm down, it'll get there. It's getting there" etc etc. I am quite aggravated because I'm out a great knife, and do not have his payment. I know a lot of people say money orders are bad, use paypal. I've told the man all I want is my blade or my cash, any advice or help would be great guys.

At first glance, this does sound like a scam in the works. If he actually got a money order, he should have proof of it on his end (a receipt/stub). Ask him to email you a photo of this. Anyone that purchased a money order would keep this in case of problems. That being said, I wouldn't expect it to take a week to get you.
 
Yeah, I had another transaction with a different member, username orca8589, who sent me a money order and I had it in 2 days. Very very nice guy to deal with, which is why I let my guard down a little for the other transaction. I'm just hoping mr tim, aka gogators, will make this right
 
I just checked the feedback of the person in question here (Gogators766) and no one has ever had a problem with him based on it. Perhaps things are as he says they are.

I sincerely hope that is the case, if I receive the MO soon I will make a sincere and thorough apology to me. However my scam-dar is ringing red right now and I'm quite worried

I'd be a bit concerned myself at this point, but I've had letters take nine days to reach me (he probably just used standard post to send your money order). Depending on where he is, it might just be taking a bit longer to get to you. If it doesn't arrive by Monday or Tuesday, then I would almost bet it's a scam of some kind. In which case, I believe you would have grounds for a mail fraud claim against him.
 
Speaking for myself, the only way I might send a knife before I got the payment was if I had a personal relationship and/or a long history of good deals with the buyer that gave me the confidence to do so. Even then I'd think about it first depending on the size of the transaction. Someone I'd never done business with would not get that treatment even if they had 100+ feedback.

Hopefully this is just a case of slow mail delivery.

Exactly right. I would gladly trust dozens of e folks here by sending out a knife first before payment was received. Nt because I have access to the ban hammer, but because those people are in my mind, good folks. If he does not respond, we all know he is going to get banned. Let's hope he does the right thing. It really sucks having to ask people to do the right thing, when it should be common sense for everyone. It's one of the first things we are taught in childhood.
 
Spyderco lover, please post his real name in your original thread, including an edit of the title. The community needs to be made aware of this guy. I've sent him a warning via the forums to get his attention, he has no listed email and cannot receive PMs.

Sir I emailed you quite patiently and respectfully for several days. I can copy and paste our emails here if you'd like. I have waited 10 days for payment. You have had my boker for a solid week now. I in fact emailed you yesterday INFORMING you that I would be going to the moderators if you did not make this right. I like to believe that I have not been pushy in this situation, if not please prove me wrong.

The MO has been sent and don't really think that after 7 days this the way to deal with things ....To have a Admin. to tell some one to put my name out there after this short of time is not right and as far as I am concerned REVDEVIL YOU CAN KISS MY A SS TALK ABOUT BEING PROFESSIONAL ...so send me another strike ....might want to get both sides before you bad mouth me ....
 
Registered Mail is only a few bucks. Not only are you practically 100% assured it'll get there, you have proof that it did.
