I'm generally headed in the north direction with my knives, although I've recently become slightly obsessed with different locking mechanisms which is pushing me all over the place.
The BladeForums.com 2024 Traditional Knife is available! Price is $250 ea (shipped within CONUS).

I never left inexpensive knives. I regularly carry both a $200 Spyderco and a $20 SAK at the same time in different pockets. I also still love and carry a humble FFG Delica that outcuts many more expensive knives.
You're right, hard to find but no impossible. The byrds are one exception. That depends on what's considered low price. If we're talking Ozark Trails low, then you're right. If we're talking Spyderco Byrd price range, then not so much.
Yeah I was the same as you but not as many ZT's then I found a deal on Chris Reeve knife and it got me sucked back in the higher-end knivesI wobble. I love me a top-shelf knife, but I also appreciate the hell out of my value knives. I still regularly carry my blurs as well as my ZT's, including my 0606CF.
I love the lack of concern I feel when carry a less expensive knife; lost my Sebenza in IKEA once and ever since then, I've been acutely aware of carrying my high end knives. I love there quality, but alas, I always find myself checking on the blade in my pocket, and even worrying about it to some degree. This will never prevent me from carrying them, but like I said, I love carrying my sub-$100 knives because the quality is still solid, but I'm also not worried about the thing at all

I don't always carry a knife, but when I do, I prefer a good one.
+1
I never broke the $250 barrier in all this time, but I carry a $20 humble excellent cutter with a $150 Spydie, Cold Steel or other every day.
Examples from this month are Opinel (less $20)+ Lil' Matriarch ($100), SAK Waiter ($20) + Swift ($110) , Byrd Cara Cara ($20) + Tasman ($80), Farmer ($30) + Voyager ($100) or Carbon Opi (less $20) + Spyderhawk ($150)

Cold Steel Swift
I carry two. One expensive and a beater in the back pocket. Lately the ZT 0452 backed up by the kershaw knockout. I love them all!
Thank you. Now I have another knife to look for.
I like it a lot and recommend it, but there is a second improved version (Swift II) you might want to look at.

I prefer the uncoated finish of the Swift I to the black coated of the second, but if you love black you might like that one better.

It's Cold Steel's first attempt at an AO knife
My biggest fears are that since I carry my knives with the possibility of SD use I might have to use it and then throw it away to get rid of evidence should the situation dictate. Some of my more prized knives are my CRKs and I would hate to dirch those. Also I am wary of my CRKs tip strength.
In the end the CQC 7 is just about the price I can carry it without fear.
