Going Clipless! Anyone else?

Hey hey.

So I carry a spydie every day. At work I carry either a PM2 or Manix 2 and both I wear clipped in my pocket. When I'm not at work I carry either a Sage 2 or Slysz Bowie. I know a lot of people love the wire clip but I am unfortunately not one of them. I recently removed the clip from my bowie and really loved the result. I carry it either loose in my pocket or in a leather pocket slip and either way it seems to ride great! Tonight I also removed the clip from my sage and also much prefer it this way. I have a spydiechef on the way as well and think I'll probably do the same. I'll post some pics in the pocket slip later but I just wanted to see if anyone had any similar feelings.

I usually carry the Dragonfly, Chaparral, Firefly, and Native clipless. I do like the clip on my Sages and Bowie, but can see how they'd carry well without them. I often prefer small knives loose in pocket, but some knives are a revelation without the clip. Taking the clip off my 484-1 was a game changer, as was the Gemini. I usually like Spydercos implementation enough that it doesn't really change the knife that much IMO.

I've been carrying my Native 5 S35VN lightweight down in pocket, but I kept the clip on. I keep it on to give my fingers purchase when one-hand opening it. It still carries nicely in the pocket with the clip on it.

Once I changed the scales the clip stayed off. Learning to make my own lanyards and my knives are slowly losing there clips. Some edc's though will always stay clips on. Just easier for some to be on my pocket for work.

I do t use the clips on my folders. They ride in the bottom of my pocket.

Yep, I've ditched several Spydie clips once I realized how amazing the ergos are w/out it. First was the Techno, then Chaparral, and Positron. Positron especially transformed w/out the clip. Ergos suck with it, and are downright amazing w/out.

I usually carry my Delica 4 clipless with a lanyard to make it easier to pull it out of my pocket

I've lost ONE good knife in my life...and that one had no clip. Okay, if you wear a sheath, then obviously that's a good idea. But loose in a pocket is NOT for me.

I take the clips off of most of my knives and carry them in my pocket. It is much better that way.

i dont really like the wire clips either, but i use my pocket clips. dont like any knife banging around my pocket mixing with change and other items. unless its a backlock or slip joint true pocket knife with a solid close backspring. too each their own.

Here I was googling whether you can drill and tap micarta so I can put clips on my traditionals [emoji1]

I hate how the knives turn sideways in my pockets I'd really hate something the size of a PM2 sideways.

I was actually thinking about going clipless on my PM2s and moving to a belt sheath.

I've tried a few times, but I'm a tried and true clip enthusiast. I agree that they feel much better without clips, but I just can't stand going clipless

I just hate how longer knives fall sideways at the bottom of the pocket :(

Before I "got into" higher quality knives I always removed the clip and carried in pocket. Now I like clips :victorious:

I took the clips off all my Spydies. It was a phase I was going through and for the most part I liked it. Now, I probably would rather have them back on, but I am too lazy to find them and do it :)

I wouldn't dream of going clipless. You'd trust a liner lock bouncing about in the pocket? Clips help get a grip when opening. They keep the knife right where it should be. If I come across a situation where I want the knife invisible, I unclip and drop it in.

I also can't stand that! It kept me from carrying traditionals for a long time. I think pocket slips make a big difference and really help to distribute the weight evenly and keep anything from falling sideways. Also, you should take a look at the KSF Insider Pocket Slip. It's like a leather pocket that attaches to your pocket with a magnet and holds them knife right where it's accessible. I love this thing, and think it could really work for a clipless spyderco.
