All I'll carry is Spear Point CRKT Minimalist.

Why?
1. It's cheap. So I don't care if it gets lost or stolen. I paid only 30 for it.
2. I just need small utility knife.
3. If I'll need anything bigger - that'll be issued to me.

Thinking about SAK tho, but that is almost asking to get stolen.

Your opinions?

A Leatherman Rebar would be a better choice - or just take the SAK. You will probably not need the fixed blade until you get to your unit, then buy a decent full size fixed blade - but you'll still probably use the SAK or Rebar more.

That costs over 100€ here. And that'd be almost guaranteed to get stolen. Maybe rather SAK?

You might want to ask for a gun while you're at it.....I hear in most places the guys in the army have them nowadays.....

Just take a Swiss Army Knife. You will probably lose it or something. Most likely you will not defend yourself with your knife in the military nowadays. Not saying it doesn't happen, but you would be the winner of a very shitty lottery.

If you mean you are heading to basic...DO, NOT, BRING, A, KNIFE!
Yep👍🏻 I spent 3 years as a Drill Sergeant at Fort Benning, GA ( Now Fort Moore ).
You’ll first go to a Reception Battalion to get fully in processed before you go to your Training Battalion. They’ll brief you on what you can or can’t take with you to the Training Battalion. They’ll give you a chance to turn in those restricted items. Then will do a 100% Shake down.
Once you get to your Training Company, the Drill Sergeant will do another “Dump Your Gear” ( but not as nice and relaxed as they did at the Reception Battalion 😆🇺🇸🪖)

My best advice is to do lots of push-ups (good ones), sit-ups, and running. Assuming the Army still requires those. There are some thefts, but not many. But above advice from posters is all good.

FYI, I bought a Rolex from the PX once I went to my first assignment (gold and steel Datejust for $625, about one month's pay). Wore it for all 21 years. Never had an issue.

We mainly bought Gerbers from the PX for knives but this was in the 70's and cool knives wasn't a thing. Wait till you're done with basic/AIT before buying these kind of things.

Bruh, minimalist has 2 inch blade, I'm nkt defending myself with that either.

Also found out guys are often issued bayonet with the AK, so I really don't need to take a thing.

I just realized that you are likely in the EU. So ........ DO NOT BRING A KNIFE TO BASIC!
How the hell are you in the army with your sight so bad?

I appreciate the advice and will take your advice.

As I already answered your previous post saying the exact same thing. No need to repeat. Cheers bro.
Just heard I'll get a bayonet. So in that case I don't need to bring anything.

I was thinking,if you are set on bringing a SAK,and you are afraid of it being stolen. You could buy one of the ones with random businesses on them. Certainly makes them not as pretty and they are much much cheaper. Good luck!

I bought my Greek friend a cheap Spanish Army Knife(SAK style) to take with him while having to do his military service. He never used it. 😒
