Going to slow down and start small.

I think the handle will be the hardest part of this but it will just take some time. I think I have some hardwood to use here. Unless I wanted to try micarda or something.

I think people are kindly saying your getting ahead of your self. Make some handles out of wood and optimize it for your hand...figure out if you like a pommel swell or thumb grooves and what shape is most comfortable and useful. Really think about it and use your wooden handle to get a feel for hot spots... tweek... use...tweek...use...and when you have a definitive handle you love then proceed. I think that's the what there telling you.. correct me if I'm wrong

It looks cool but cant cut to save its life lol The hole placement is not correct so that would need to be changed. It does however look like a knife. I guess thats the first step.

Now yer cookin'.

To me the handle looks a little thick top to bottom. Your hands are probably bigger than mine but just from looking at it it looks thick. The rear pin looks higher than the rest. It looks like the rear bump would rub on your pinkie with extended use so you might want to relieve that area a bit more.

Overall the shape is nice and clean.

Yeah the hole for the rear pin will need to be moved it does not seam to be even I have big hands and giant forearms lol yeah I figure the handle will become more comfortable once its rounded its not even rounded yet.

That's a heck of a lot bigger than your drawing. Cut your drawing out and then trace it into your wood. It looks like you're just diving in again.

Its not to much bigger I went bigger because I can always remove wood but cant put it back on. I did inadvertently change the blade angle a little on it is a straight edge better or should it be more curved like the wood blank? The ones I see are more curved like the wood blank.

I think you're on the right track with your new design, but I'd personally make the handle a little longer, or cut it so your pinky has a little more clearance. I'd also slim the whole design down a little bit.

Try to fit it onto a piece of steel that's 1.5" wide.

yeah was thinking about the handle issue I sometimes wear gloves and it just barley has any room without gloves on. It may need to go just a bit longer or make a smaller rear hump on it for that purpose.

Before you go any further, you can still probably salvage something useful out of this steel. Here are some little knives I cut out of some O1 that was a 3/32x3". It was approc 6" of end cut. here is what I made them out of. For 2 or 3 finger knives, I like to fintail the handle. It helps the grip positions. Copy these if you like. The tangs dropped in the thermal cycling, and I will fix that. Don't do a hidden tang yet.

Here's another perspective. The top two knives are by a friend of mine. He struggles with the esthetics of how a knife fits in the hand, and how it cuts. The second knife looks like your design. The four lower knives are mine. They are blems that I kept, or prototypes. I am not showing off fit and finish here, but this is what you can do with a little more patience. Look at how the handles flow with the blade shape, how the curves fit the contours of the hand. The bottom steak knife is at a much more extreme angle, but it puts the blade at a great angle on a steak on a plate without having to contort your arm.

Those are pretty cool looks like they would slide right into some stag handles.

I've done that before. I made this one about a year and a half ago.

I did this one next. Fit and finish was "evolving" to say the least. The owner carries this knife daily, and loves it.

Copy any of these patterns. None are original by any stretch.

SLOW DOWN and make something you want to show off.

Something wrong with the posting today.

I had a longer post, but the final comment was that I feel you just want to do your own thing and run your own race. Have at it. I will just watch from the sidelines. Good luck.

now that I have this one carved I see how the handle is and for this type of knife it will be comfortable. I see how the scales will need to be formed for this as well. I now am going to draw some more till I order some more metals thanks for the help every one.
