Gonna' be dad!

42B, God bless you guys, its the best time IMO to go thru, everytime you look at that kid you know he/she is a part of you and its a great feeling. As far as $, save now and buy that toy you have always wanted, because the diapers and formula are CHA-CHING :( !!!!!!
I asked to catch and cut my lil' girl, but our OBGYN would only let me cut. FYI & BTW, those OBGYN docs (for the most part) are so apprehensive, sometimes to fault. We were told our lil' girl (at 7 weeks) most likely had trisomy (because of an enlarged nucal fold at the time of ultrasound). My wife and I went thru alot (to say the least), and in the end she is perfect and healthy, she is 2 yo. The next one, we will go thru a mid wife instead. Good luck and enjoy the ride !

Lauren plans on breast-feeding the kid, so at least formula isn't a concern, and we found a lady who makes super cool washable diapers, so there goes that one too!

I know what you're talking about with the OBGYNs...I've heard a lot of horror stories. We plan on using a midwife and a birthing facility. :)

As far as buying "that cool thing"...let's just say this has made it possible to order a new Maxpedition Jumbo Versapack in the new blue color as a tactical "doody" bag. :D :D :D

Thanks again for the kind words of encouragement all!

Big congrats, FortyTwo! Wishin' you the best! Great idea on the Maxpedition, by the way. :p

I like to think Im a cool Dad so I'll tell you little about what I did. Maybe it will give you some ideas. When my son was born I was prepared (we knew we had to have a c-sec). I was in the room the whole time. After he was delivered I cut the cord but before anyone was allowed to leave the room I opened an envelope, it contained a birthday card for my son. It played "Bad to the Bone". All the nurses did gather round and everyone was asked to sign his card. It was quite cool (some of the nurses even cryed at my thoughtfulness). Before my wife left the hospital the next day a nurse cut the bracelet off and put in a bag as a keepsake, I pulled a gold bracelet out and placed it on my wifes wrist.

not bad!

i'll brag for Mr. Shotty. He gave me my diamond ring when our second was born :D

42B, congrats. You gonna love it.

My advise...you have a tendancy to just want to get through it, get to the next step. Sometimes we miss living in the moment with the little ones. Relish the times you have with them, even in the middle of the night when they won't stop crying.

Congrats again.

42B, thats a smart idea, washable diaps. on breast feeding. It took awhile for my wife to get it down, but once she latched on, good to go. Make sure she pumps and lets you feed, this way you can feed the baby when moms not around (later on). I found this out the hard way!!!! And if you choose to freeze breast milk (to stock up on it), treat it like frozen meat, its good for 6 mons. frozen and once thawed, its good for 2-3 days (or so) in the fridge. Dont mix your half & half with breats milk though, although breast milk is sweet, its lousy in coffee :)

:thumbup:Congratulations!!! Forty YOU BE A GREAT DAD A Cigar is instor for you!!!! Family A Great Thing.

Congrats ! It's quite a journey. We just had our first on 27th December, she's almost 8 months old now and we couldn't be happier!
