Don't care if it's fixed or a folder. Anyone got a good suggestion? (by "Good" I mean sharp, decent steel, looks OK, functional)

examples I can cite are:
openels (not crazy about them, but they are popular around here)
byrd knives in general
mora, especially the laminated
David farmer (ok, it was $65)

Thanks

Huge Thumbs Up for Opinel. Set of ten in display box for $60.
Swiss Army Knife? $7 and up
Something from AG Russell - FeatherLite, Woodswalker, Funny Folder, etc., $20-$50
Mora - laminated carbon steel, wood handle, leather sheath, $28
Case peanut or stockman in CV, $30-$40
Buck 120 General, $60

Maybe you can find a Kershaw E.T. for $60. There are few knives as unusual as that!

The ET is cool, but I'm looking for an unusual brand or inexpensive small-production-level maker, if possible. Byrd and Opinel I put in for examples of high quality (in my opinion) knives that are very modestly priced. Thankd

How about a CRKT Rollock, or one of the new Turtles? Both pretty funny. Also, there is the AG Russel Funny Folder, which someone else mentioned. Of course, there is the Douk Douk, Mercator, and Okapi.

Okapi, good call.

Also check out some of the lesser-known (compared to Mora anyway) Scandinavian brands at Ragweed Forge. Helle, Karesuando, Ahti, and others have many models for $60 and under.

There are some knives occasionally listed in the For Sale By Maker section in your price range. You just have to wait and watch, and be ready to jump as soon as they're posted.

Mainstream maker, but about $68 and definitely unusual. Junkyard Dog II by Kershaw, the G-10/D2 model. How about a two part blade, with CPM D2 as the edge steel? You can't see it in the picture, but there's a very attractive thin copper line between the two steels. Beefy linerlock. On mine, at least, fit and finish are excellent, especially considering the price.

Maybe a Browning Icestorm or 2 (made by Mcusta)?
excellent F&F,smooth action,razor sharp VG-10...all for around $30-$40

if u want a unusual one get a CRKT rollock they are about 20-40$ depends were u get it and they are pretty sharp

OK I'll admit this one is not practical, but I can't stop playing with it..... and you did ask for something unusual.

It 's the new Schrade A/O OTF, technically it's an assisted opening knife and not a switchblade, but it sure is fun.

I've already got the Junkyard Dog pictured.

CRKT rollock - Ill check out - I didn't like the one I bought and returned recently.

The Schrade sells for around $40.00.

I paid $30.00 for this one, and another $15.00 for a leather sheath a little while back. I saw it, and had to have it.

If you look around you can probably find a railroad spike knife on ebay or something. It's been a while since I looked, but I do remember seeing them on there a while back. I'm sure they're still there. I got this one at a gun show. It's shaving sharp.
