Good boot knife?

Just puttíng this out there ...

I'm not looking for a dagger really since I have never seen a practical purposes for one. I am looking more for a good back up knife for say the time when I forget to put one in my pocket or if I come across something that I don't really want to use my sebenza for.
To be clear this is not for a self defense situation. That's what my gun is for.

I ride a 2012 street glide now. Just switched from a dynamic super glide and am loving the new ride
Nice.

BUELL here. That one got the most use this season. Couple of other bikes as well.

Just rode and checked out some from the INDIAN range - ohh, baby.

Don't ride bikes but do ride... a lot:

I like the ability of being able to move the sheath. Way more versatile:

Plus if you're like me ya probably have more than one pair of boots:

Or ya can loan it to your son's girlfriend:

Any small fixed blade knife works well. What you like is best. I sell more boot sheaths with this model of knife over any other model I make though:

Flat, lightweight, compact and very tuckable. Would kind of fill your bill of the perfect knife to have with you when you forget your knife. 5.25" oal:

Thanks I Icehawk . They were made for me by my friend Mike "Tap" Vatalero of Tap's Bit and Spur Shop. Here he is (in the polka dot wildrag) talking to my son before my son's run in the finals of the Pro Am last year.

If you've ever seen one of my engraved knives, Mike does all the engraving for me:

We also have several of his bridle bits. He made the two on the right:

Fortunate in our gear and our friends.

Indeed! He does very nice work, with a sweet mustache like that I would hope so :D

I was never a Western guy but I certainly appreciate a beautiful set of tack. Your work isn't too shabby either (it's wonderful).

Those Damascus knives with sheath are beautiful! Not sure if I could afford one of those on my enlisted salary but I would sure like to try. Think you could pm me horsewright with some pricing on them?
Or email me at erhodes2@elon.edu

Things people stuff in their boot: weapons, money, drugs. You don’t see much else

Thank-you for your service! erhodes erhodes . Our son is in South Korea right now in the Army. Message in coming in the morning.

Okay, that goes a good ways towards explaining your knife needs.

As you dont strictly need a dagger, I would not handicap myself by carrying one.

Daggers have some limitations but are of course good for some things

As mentioned before, check out a slim Perrin knife for the boot or belt when riding.

Fred Perrin knives can be had with or without scales OR you can get the Spyderco Perrin version, which is called the Street Beat.

I bought the Street Beat and heartedly recommend it.

Here the current version as the version I got is discoed.

+1 on those Perrin ones. Scaleless sounds like a good idea for ankle carry and if you ride a hog, I assume you wear gloves a lot, which makes a very comfortable handle less necessary.

For not much more than what you would spend on a factory piece you can probably have something made by one of our resident smiths.

Good people like Horsewright or Charlie Mike Charlie Mike can make something to your specs and specialize in fixed blades. That’s my advise.

.....but thanks to everybody in the thread for their input.

(Well, someone ought to say it).

:);)

That great. I don’t think you can go wrong by supporting the knifemakers that are on here. Please post pics of your new knife when you get it.
