We had to have our 14 year old German Shepard Shauna put to sleep, she had hip dysplasia (sp), it got so bad she couldn't stand.
She was an active dog who loved the out doors, she swam in the creek in our yard nearly every day rain or shine, summer or winter.
She was my daughters best friend and protector, (they shared the same birthday) 1/6/09 she would have been 14, we had to put her to sleep last Friday the day after New Years, she wasn't eatin' or drinkin' any more so we had our vet come out to the house and we all lay on the floor with her on her favorite blanket and stayed with her to the end, she deserved at least that.
Then we buried her in the yard where she always lay outside, (where she could see the creek, the house and the street.
Even though we have another dog Bailey, (he's about 4) it's hard to forget all the great time with Shauna, my wife and daughter have been upset ever since and every time I see the othe pets or I go out I miss her.
Here's a pic of her when she was 11 years old, she was beautiful.
