"Good deed" give-a-way take II (Reznik572 inspired)

Still not entering but I wanted to share. My wife's cousin has been looking for a cheap horse for his wife. He has some inherited land but no money since she is out of work. My uncle breeds horses and has one he wants to sell since his son didn't like it and got a different one. Perfect horse, great price, all around perfect except for the 2 states that separate the two parties. I'm going up to see my grandparents on the fourth so I called the wife's cousin last night and told them I'll bring the horse when I go visit. He had his wife get on the phone and I told her the same thing. She started crying she was so happy. Turns out I'll be coming back with the horse on the 7th and the 9th is her birthday, they didn't have money for anything for her birthday so this will be her present from us and her hubby. My uncle is gonna let them make payments or else they wouldn't be able to get her even now. They don't know it yet but I talked to my wife after the call and we're gonna buy the horse for them. We both just got scholarship checks from our colleges and we figure the price won't hurt our savings that much. It'll sure be worth it to see them catch a break right now.

As someone stated earlier, what goes around comes around. So, take advantage of any opportunity you have to help someone.

David,

It is very reassuring to hear stories like this. It reminds us all that there are still good people in the world. I'm sure she's going to love the horse!

You are a good man.

Take care,
Anthony

I'm not working right now, but there's a fellow at church who's worse off than me.
Right now, he's living in a homeless shelter and doesn't have a dime to his name.
I scrounged for a week, and managed to scrape together $40 to give to him to help out.
He had tears in his eyes as he shook my hand.

Gave till it hurt so three families in our church could provide Christmas gifts to their children. One family had just moved in from Botswana, and their bank account been drained by a scammer.

Gave till it hurt again towards a 737 full of doctors and nurses on a medical mission to Haiti.

i was at mcdonalds the other day sitting in the drive threw a few cars back from ordering. i am always watching as its in a bad area and i see this guy screaming at a girl. so i am watching and watching and she is bawling. he then pushes her and she starts walking off. she then walks up to my truck and asks if you she can have a couple dollars to get the starter on their car fixed. she seemed genuine but around that area you got to watch out for the scams. so i am getting ready to give her some money when her man starts yelling again. she turns and walks away. and he runs up screaming at her about talking to "other guys lol which was me this time". so the line moves and i pull up closer to the menu/order. i am still watching in my rear view mirror and i see him push her again and cock his hand back to hit her. i put the truck in park (now mind you this was a big boy lol and i am not small) and got out and said i wouldn't do that if i was you. and he proceeded to go crazy screaming at me to mind as he said it my own bidnezz (business i think lol). so he lets go of the girl and starts walking over to me. i am not to nervous cause i been fighting most my life and can handle myself pretty well. he gets up close screaming (and he had a whole mouth full of golds but can't keep his car running :) ) how he is gonna do this and that to me if i didn't get in my truck. i said sir i don't want any problems but i am not gonna stand around and watch a big guy like you beat up a little girl like that. i said so just walk away leave her alone and we can all go on about our day. well the girl is scared for me now saying i don't know him and he is very violent and is gonna hurt me ect.... i said ma'am go on inside mcdonalds and hang out there he won't follow you in and make a scene cause the police will get called and at this point he tries to sucker punch me fortunately he swung pretty slow so i moved out the way and gave him a quick chop to the throat and watched him hit his knee's trying to figure out how to breathe.

now here is the kicker. the girl gets mad at me and smacks me dead in the face for hurting her man. she busted my lip now wtf is that all about. i was like you have got to be kidding me honey he was about to beat your ass and i help you and then you hit me for it?? i got back in the truck and ordered my mcdonald's sweet tea and rolled out

Now lol i am not sure if this counts as a good deed or not but it started out that way.
if it doesn't get me in the contest no worries i understand

either way thanks for the contest everyone around here seems pretty generous and cool i am glad i found this sub forum.

That happened to an old buddy of mine back in the day...he did a year...broke up a domestic at a gas station and the girl testified...sad.

Are you sure about running it for another month? Nobody else is entering...

Yes, I'm sure.

I'm hoping by running for this length of time that more people will become inspired to be a little more positive and post some of their deeds.

I saw a man in a large store chain slap his 5 year old son in the back of the head so hard the little guy fell to the floor. He was begging his dad for a toy and causing quite a scene. I could not control my shock and anger that a father would do this to his son and returned the same gesture to the father. After the father was explained by the LEO to take it as a lesson learned because he could be charged as well, I was let off the hook. I guess my moral to this story is don't be afraid to step in and do something to help those that can't do it for themselves. Even if it does cause a scene.

This is a touchy one, trentu. Good work steeping in! It take a real man to stand up for what he believes in.

That is a solid move trentu!!! Its good to know there is people like you out there. Pardon my language but you can only eat so much shit before you blow up!! I wish more people had the balls to do stuff like that!!!- Joel:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

A cousin shattered his elbow. He lives 200 miles away. He had 120 bales of hay to unload for his horses. I drove up there last weekend and unloaded them.

I did some solo trail maintenance, only about 10 pounds of trash picked up off a busy section of trail, but it was clean again. :)

I have been going to my hometown and helping tend my elderly grandmother every weekend for the past 6 months. She is basically chair/bed ridden and i cook meals for her, help her go to the bathroom, etc. and ask her to tell me stories of her childhood. Treasures right there.

My ongoing good deed is serving on our Boy Scout troop's committee. It also gives me a chance to serve on campouts, provide medical care (I'm an RN) and teach our boys first aid, wilderness survival, navigation, and bushcraft. I really enjoy doing this alot. Does it still count?

Great job guys and thank you for running this.

I recently taught a free women's self-defense class. Started with the basics of safety and worked our way up to anatomy-based self-defense. So now there's a bunch of women buying motion sensor lights and aluminum bodied flashlights, locking their doors and beating up their boyfriends or husbands for practice. Many of the girls have expressed their appreciation, and many guys have voiced their displeasure while showing me their bruises.

I'm an EMT so I carry a medium sized trauma kit in the car and last week guy slammed on his bike breaks and the bike behind him rode up his back tire, trashed his very expensive carbon fiber bike and caused him to come down on his head and shoulder. The guy who caused the accident just left. Fortunately the injured guy was wearing a helmet or it would have been much more serious. I evaluated and patched him up, then dropped off his bike at his dorm and him at the ER (he couldn't afford an ambulance ride).

We have a winter shelter for the homeless that rotates through some of the churches and I've been doing a lot of the driving getting them to and from the churches. I enjoy doing this and hearing their stories and it helps me to realize how truly blessed I am.

I'm not trying to toot my own horn, as I consider these very minor things and hardly worth mentioning, but I wouldn't mind that pocket razel!

I picked up a waterbottle off the floor and recylced it. Then I got a re-usable alumium bottle. Thanks for the chance.
