Good edc knives at 2.5 in.

I think the techno looks cool as heck. I just don't understand the point of a small, thick knife. I feel like, if it's smaller, it should slice better.

I've found it to be a great slicer! As good as any short blade can be, I've yet to use a better one similarly sized. At the same time it's strong enough to tackle tougher jobs. It's the perfect balance for an EDC imo.

This is how I feel about it, too. Went with the GB Air and love it.

I have been eyeballing that pretty hard. I have been tempted to pick up a new EDC and that has been a contender, as well as the smaller Benchmades like the Shoki(?). The Kiwi 4 lockback looks cool as well. I love the shape of the Domino and Dice but they are too thick for my needs.

I might just sell a couple knives and pick up something more high end. So many choices for every taste, eh?

According to finnish retailers' measurements the blade in dice is 0,1 mm wider than that of kiwi 4. Hardly too thick a difference ;)

It seems to be .5mm difference, give or take. 2.5mm or less is what I usually prefer. 3mm can be ok but is a bit thick for a slicer. Cuts fine at that size, however. I hardly carry my PM2 and Gayle Bradley because they're so thick(imo). The PM2 is what, 3.5mm? It will cut the materials at my job, but it won't slide through them without me having to push and wedge it in. My Delica, RAT 2 and Avispa cut almost like the work razors they issue out, the Avispa being the thickest at around 2.7mm. That's quite thin for a large folder.

Had to measure my PM2 and Dice - PM2 seems to be 3.6 or 3.7 mm and Dice is 3.0 mm. So the measurement on the Lamnia's site for Dice (2.6 mm) is wrong :)

Damn, some true lovers of Spyderco on this thread. I love me some Spyderco, but let's think outside the Spydie Hole:

I've found that the Kershaw Scallion and the Buck Rush are great small EDCs and they don't attract too much attention when flipped open in public. Best of all, you can find them both for about $50 or less. Both have assisted opening and will last a lifetime.

Or....you can go with a Native, since that's the general consensus.

Spydie dice or techno. Great folders with good steel. Dice is a fast unassisted opener, a plus. I have both.

The Spyderco Cat C129G is 2.438" of 440C blade steel, just under 2.5", but it's a hell of a knife. I've been waiting for it to go down in price myself. It has a good size handle to grab onto as well, I just wish there was some gimping on the thumb ramp.

... around $115 so it's not too pricey

And towards the other end of the scale ... Gerber LST 400/609/46009 - 2.6", 420HC, 1.2oz, $15

Carried either a Gerber LST Microlight 200 1.5" or Ultralight 300 2" for years as an office EDC. The little 200 disappears so completely it looks like your opening packages with your finger. ;)
