Well for those of you out there that remember the Brad Duncan saga, here's a recap and a apoligy in one. Mr. Duncan had what someone out there called a "Life Curveball ". He got in touch w me finally and was good enough to send me a loner knife because of the long wait. After a couple of e-mails back and fourth, I know understood the nature of his (curveball) and am sorry we didn't get in contact sooner. I apoligise for any mishaps this may have caused Brad, and hope he reconsiders his thoughts of such an early retirement. I would like to continue my collection of Duncan's. And hope it can be between artist and collector! Take Care Brad

Mike

Also, perhaps you may update this thread as well;

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=391335

A few guys on that thread may want to clear up some of the name calling and false accusations levied against Brad - all made without any facts in hand and mostly without any real knowledge of Brad or his situation- now and before.

Many of you should be ashamed of yourselves for your childish behavior and gang/bang mob mentality in terms of this man and his work. There were several "trollish" comments made that were uncalled for and simply untrue

Let me remind you all, that over the 3 pages of that first thread, there was only one person who was owed a knife that was paid for and another man who wanted a tune up on his existing knife but couldn't get Brad on the phone/email.

Have a nice day,

Neil

Your posts regarding this issue have been vague and haven't contributed anything constructive regarding the "problems" you experienced or the ones your friends supposedly experienced. Both Tautog and myself have established contact and are working to iron out the issues. If you still are looking for restitution then I would proceed to contact Brad and tell him your thoughts. Otherwise the parties here are being addressed and hopefully we will be satisfied with the outcome. Since Neil has been invaluable helping us get in touch with Brad, at least he contributed something. Your bashing isn't helping here or when it arose at the USN. I hope you figure out what exactly your issue is and maybe we can help you to displace some of that negative energy your harboring. Good day and god bless.

This dude is not worth a reply.

LOL
You sub-human cretin. I was using those remarks sarcastically. You're further diminishing your case in this thread by consistently opening your food chute and stuffing your encrusted feet in. Open wide!

Next time you want to sling feces like the monkey in a tree you're impersonating, bring it to W&C. But not to worry, God still loves Atheists. Satan likes 'em too.

If you want to further this PM me.

Well, TGB&U is the place where you can display your character ... be it good, bad, or ugly....

The people who have posted in this thread might want to go back and read what you have posted again, and think about whether what you have said and the language you have used to say it accurately reflects your character. If that's what you want people to know you for, I'm not going to censor your words for you....

Sorry for the childish remarks. I just get frustrated when I can't be face to face with someone.

If you've got relevance to the issue then speak it. If not what purpose are you serving. I have no interest in a PM feud with you over politics or religion. My PMs are always on so feel free if you need to vent. From a fellow LIer, stay sharp.

I will apologize however for letting this thread get off track and as platinum members we should be helping out the community where possible rather than fighting amongst ourselves.

Good to hear that everything got sorted out; congratulations to Tautog, GFarrel and Mr. Duncan; I am honestly happy for all of you.

Nonetheless, I stand by what I said in my original thread. Whatever one's personal circumstances are, you owe it to your customers--or whomever may be expecting things from you--to be upfront and communicative about what the situation is.

We all have problems. Life flips you $hit, and most places and people will be understanding if you keep them informed.

But most professional situations will not forgive you if you just decide your problems are too important for you to communicate. College, work, business, whatever---everyone understands that (for example) a death of a family member is very very difficult; no one is trying to play that down. But by the same token, none of these people/places will have very much sympathy for you not writing your final paper, not showing up to work, or you breaching contract if you don't tell them what's going on. Personally, I don't think that knifemakers should get exceptions to this expectation when nobody else does.

Anyway, I apologize if this post is slightly off track. I just felt I should elaborate on what I said, given the posts above.

Update:
After much trouble with USPS delivering, I went with Fedex and Brad finally got the knife in his possession. He gave me a call last night and explained what he was going to do. He said he'll create a new knife and reuse some of the parts from my original Whiplash. New blade and logo with thicker liners and such. Needless to say I was more than pleased that he would take the extra steps to ensure I was satisfied. I will post more results when I get the knife back.

Updated:

I got into work this morning and the Whiplash was waiting for me. I spoke to Brad on Monday or Tuesday and he explained what work was done to the knife and that he was shipping it out that day.
After I checked out the knife I am really happy with it. The lock tab doesn't stick, the liners are thicker, the logo has been stamped instead of etched, new carbon fiber and switched the clip from tip-up to down. He also tightened the pivot action so it isn't as loose opening. All in all he is a good guy to deal with despite the prior issues he has been having. I asked him if he is returning to NY for this years shows and he said the Summer and November shows he will probably be attending.

I am happy to say my issue has been resolved with great results. I would deal with him again.

GFarrell3

Glad to hear that this worked out for you. It took a while but Brad came through.

I knew he would and I think it is very honorable of you to post the news as you did.

Take care
Neil

Hi Larry,

Thanks so much for your concen for my business. It's refreshing that you are so considerate- I am happy to call you a friend.

But, I am afraid that soon you are going to have to take off your shoes and socks to count the knives again - I have another 10 new Duncan knives coming through in a few weeks; plus Brad is delivering a large order to me either before the Blade Show or at the show. A few new models and a new TNK Exclusive!

If you would like to get on my waiting list for his new knives then just let me know. However, from you, I will need a deposit.

Have a great weekend

Neil
