Recommendation? Good first Busse for camp/outdoors tasks?

Congrats on your first Busse. Beat the pork out of it!

Sooo many good suggestions already and although this picture is missing the HOGB8 and my Euro-B6, you could easily do well with any of the following...

Stumpy...did you blue your satin battle rat..??

Weather and sheath delivery permitting, I'll be on the trail with my kiddo (and the SHE2) this weekend or the next -- and backpacking as soon as the overnight temp hits a range I'm comfortable with, possibly as early as May. :)

CONGRAT's Dadpool!!! I knew you'd dig it!!!:cool::cool::cool:

Nate acid stonewashed it for me when he had it for sharpening. I think it turned out Awesome and I don't have to worry about staining/rust as much now!;)

Great stuff all around! Yep - I too had a clip point variant I sold, and I really kind of almost regret selling it!
Same here. If I had one with a solid handle color I would have kept it but that machining pattern on two color g10 looks just like a snake to me......and I'm not a fan of snakes. Lol!

Thanks for the tempting photos. I'm thinking I may need to obtain one of these models. But if you knew how many Bussekin's I already possess, you would check the insane asylum in my town for possible upcoming vacancies.

Yes...I know. And thank you. The only place I'm understood (in that regard), is here. And I also have a few CRK's; Beckers; and other brand's - (Stephen King reference) - "needful things."

Dadpool, I'm glad you like your SHE2! The Steel Heart has been very popular in its different variations over the last ~20 years.

You're not alone.

We're just one big happy, well-adjusted family here (for the most part)! ;):D

I can't get over how comfortable this handle is. "Ergo," indeed! My instinctive grip makes it feel like it was molded for my hand, and it's no less comfortable when choked up, choked back, or in saber or Filipino grips. It's an incredibly flexible handle profile.

Now that I have an idea of how many variations of it there are, my embarrassment at previously calling it "the Steel Heart" like it was the only one knows no bounds.:D

I thought these came in .22, or is that the clip variant only, or is it the helium Jerry put in these particular handles that makes the SHE2 so freaking pleasing to handle? Weren't these verified to have some weight saving design elements in between the scales?

My understanding was that the gen2 SHE run had .25 blades. The only SHE2s I've seen mentioned as having .22 blades were the grab-bag clip point variants.

Obviously put a huge shaker of salt next to that since I'm new to Busses!

That makes sense as I know the BAE-2's were .25...Such a perfect stock for a blade that long...I don't usually like any thicker than .25 on a knife that big...I bet that thing does feel awesome and hefty and light at the same time....great freaking knife.

Super comfy handle as well...
