Good folding edc around 25$

Im trying to find a good folding edc around 25$ and i have no idea what to pick. Im looking for something with a 3-4 inch blade, i want it to be sturdy enough to do your everyday task and hold a semi decent edge (i do have sharpening stones and systems so resharpening isnt really a problem). I will be purchasing off of amazon. (please no swiss army tools i just want a knife i already have a swisstool and a gerber multi tool, and no spyderco/byrd, iv had very bad experiences with them and will no longer purchase from their company)

The hardest tasks i do is cut plastic packaging, tape off of boxes and some string or very light rope. I dont plan on using it for self defense but if it came down to it itd be helpful if i could use for a last resort.

Most anything will do for those.
 
Ontario Rat 1...$30 or so. I've moved away from cheap folders, but I want another one as a beater. Traded the one I did have. Tank of a knife.

i got a tenacious that came with the g10 scales loose and i got a byrd cara cara 2 that came the lock back was defective on and it didnt stay locked... i like quality, i just dont think spydercos budget knives are very good quality
 
i only want a cheap folder cause im super strapped for cash right now and i need something decent to use in my daily life
 
One of the Spyderco Persistence folders which is a very good quality gem in the industry for value. I've had one of these and the Tenacious. I could not find fault with either of them really. I have one of the Byrd Wings and am quite happy with that also although the grip comfort is not that great it is a neat model and well made. The Kershaw Scallion or Chive are both readily available on some of the auction sites and other places and they are well done USA made models as I recall. Assisted opening but great little folders worth looking into and I believe they still offer both Storm models which are still priced about what you are wanting to spend. If you can find one of the older Kershaw Vapors made in Japan I really thought those were nice also.

Buck Vantage Select, small is $23 bucks, Large is $26. The selects are great knives for the price and back by Bucks great warranty.

I have both a Tenacious and a Persistence and there's not a thing wrong with them. I have a couple of byrds too and not a thing wrong with either too. The Tenacious line is generally recognized as one of the best bang for your buck around.

Well still, until i can afford a higher end spyderco im gonna stay away from them. Id rather go with a diff company for budget knives
