Good folding edc for 40$

A kershaw skyline or blur? I have had great success with both of these blades.... The blur is a little more expensive but well worth it.

have a skyline doesnt get the job done for my job, its too hard on such a lightweight blade, i need somethin a bit more tough

i basiclly need less of a lightweight edc and more of a medium use carrying blade that ima have with me all the time and use it for work, cutting tape off tons of boxes (sounds like a light task but ud be surprised cause things like the skyline have gotten all messed up from it and i had to send them to kershaw)

I have to second the blur based on what you will be doing with the knife. Take a look at your large online retailer and you will find a nice red handled blur for $49.22!

thread title, under 40

if i had more ik what id buy the reason im asking is because idk anything in this price range that will work but im tired of having stuff need to be sent away after a couple weeks of using it at my job cause im losing money with shipping it to them
and im on a tight budget and can only afford 40 bucks right now and i kinda need it asap

I have had great success with the Kershaw Needs Works. I have had the blade for over a year and have not broke the tip off yet, Just don't drop it blade first! I mainly deal with card board boxes all day long and it shreds them with ease and I find the steel used to make the knife very easy to keep maintained.

kershaw needs work vs ontario rat 1?

What blade style would you prefer? I personally like wharncliffe for box cutting, basically it's a folding box cutter.

tbh i dont rly care and it doesnt make much of a difference in how i do it i just want something that basiclly has no chance to fail and leave me digging through my cabinet to find a diff knife the next morning because i need something different to use for a while until it comes back from getting fixed (skyline and tenacious failed me)

The Ontarion Rat 1 is a great knife, and a bargain imho. For Kershaws, I bought a Vapor about 7 years ago at the local WMART. At the time it was around 14 bucks IIRC. They make the Vapor in two sizes. Mine is the smaller of the two. It has held up really well.
It has a solid feel to it, the blade opens and closes very smoothly, and the lockup is very good too

You can get a buck vantage avid for 40 bucks. Its a great knife with great looking diamond wood handles that arent to slick, and it carries bucks lifetime warranty so if you ever hurt it or it breaks bam new knife.

Case Trapper in yellow. <deal spot removed>
right now. Two blades. American made. As classic as you can get.

Take a look at the Cold Steel voyager. A solid workhorse, and a lot of knife for the ~40 dollar price

Have you checked out the Spyderco Persistance? I think it would fit the bill based on your requirements. <deal spot removed>

This is a good thread with lots of excellent suggestions. We need to watch the deal spotting as there is too much of it. If you haven't read the site rules, you can find a link my signature.

@ ChrisFarms - Take a look at the Kershaw Tremor...4 down from the top in the picture below. It's a big knife..fits your blade length requirement.

Are all those urs? if so nice collection man

Just pick up an Ontario RAT-1. Best value in the <$40 category, in my opinion, and should serve your purpose well.

Good luck!
