I just bought a couple of Fallknivens (A1 and F1) from Knifeworks.com. Superb communication, excellent shipping. An all-around great experience. They will definitely get my business again. :D

I've bought all my Benchmades and Fallknivens from knifeworks and they are incredible. They have the best prices and the best service as well - absolutely nothing I can complain about!

Been buying from them for a long time now. High quality professional retailers. They get all my production folder business.

I hate to put a damper on this thread but I purchased a fixed griptilian from knifeworks about three years ago. When it arrived it had a large noticeable scratch on the blade. I immediately called and spoke to the owner and he told me I would have to send it in to benchmade as a warranty. I did not argue and just vowed to never buy anything from them ever again.

knifeworks is awesome!!! great service, fast shipping, and good deals on Benchmades! :D

When a retailer sells knives they often don't get a chance to see every little detail of every knife that comes in, they were correct in saying that you should send it in to Benchmade for warranty, it was Benchmade that screwed up not knifeworks. either way you would have to pay the small shipping fee.

That may be the case, but I have chosen not to deal with them. Imagine if you bought or traded for a blade here that is stated as "new" and then it arrives with a scratch and the seller says "send it to Benchmade."

I've been ordering quite a few items from them recently and had been very pleased with their service and fast shipping as well, until an order I placed arrive with a bunch of nicks in the blade.

Being in Canada, returning the knife to Benchmade is going to be a pain to ship it, when if they had simply opened the box they would have seen it was damaged and avoided the trouble.

I understand that this is more of an issue with Benchmade then Knifeworks but as a dealer I feel you are responsible for the products you sell.

Other than the item I just placed a deposit on, I highly doubt I will order more from them, which is a shame because their prices were great and they always shipped very quickly...

None of the dealers I know routinely inspects items coming in nor items being shipped, but many will inspect your item if you ask them to.

I understand what you are saying. It does certainly ruin any pleasure in the purchase experience and leaves a bad taste in your mouth.
Dealers like KW that provide good prices, are working on a thin edge. Shipping becomes a big deal.
Their policy is stated on the web site:
"If you decide to send you knife back to us on a defected item for a refund or replacement, you will be responsible for the shipping charges back to us and we will ship it back to you for free of charge."
To you and me that may not seem exactly fair. You're annoyed you got a defective item, they don't know who made it defective, so they split the difference and share the pain.
Since you're going to pay for return shipping anyway, it makes sense to just send it to BM.

None of that is going to really make you feel better, and it's certainly your right to deal with whom you choose.
In the case of KW, I'd give them another chance. They are a well respected dealer who I have bought numerous items from. Roger and his girls are excellent and knowledgeable, and the prices are very good.
Hopefully, you will try them again, but maybe next time ask for your purchase to be inspected before shipping.

I see where your coming from Alann45 and one unfavorable purchase should not sour things considering I have placed a few great orders with them.

As I stated they always ship very fast, and have gone above and beyond on another occasion.

I was really very new to buying blades at the time and did not think to ask them to inspect the fixed griptilian. Prior to my purchase from Roger, I never had experienced any retailer not standing behind the products they sell. For me, the taking of an order and shipping it out fast is just a facet of customer service. Their prices are indeed great but I cannot help from being turned off from that experience.

:thumbup:Yup, Knifeworks is great to deal with. I have ordered many times from them, and always ask them to inspect the knives first for flaws. As far as I can tell, they have honored that request.

Is knife works a small little shop or a big retailer?

Depends what you consider big, but I would not call KW small.

He's got at least one large warehouse, or more, and a pretty good sized store.
Been doing this a pretty long time too.

I have had nothing but excellent experiences with Roger and Knifeworks.

I have never had to return a knife, so my experience is in ordering and receiving knives.

I did change an order on one knife I had on order for a long time, and Roger responded on a Sunday, and had the alternate choice out to me in three days.

I would also add that Roger also further discounted the alternate choice, as it was a few dollars more expensive than the knife I had originally ordered.

I think Knifeworks has fairly recently moved into a new physical location, and they have pictures of their inventory on the web site if I remember correctly.

best regards -
