So my new job has me working around a lot of people and I'm using my knives around them I get looks and even complaints so my supervisor and Forman have asked me that they have no issue with me and using knives but they look too tactical (my Forman is a knife guy) they said it can be as big as I want and I like 3.5 to 4 inches as long as they aren't terribly intimidating. Examples were cold steel ak and emerson cqc 8. Now with this being said I'm a big dude and the knife needs to be very ergonomic since it's being used constantly. Any suggestions I got like 100$ I sold my cqc 8 and then bought some tools and what not and this is what I got left over.

How about a griptilian with sheeps foot blade? Maybe get it in a color you like to tone it down a bit. :)

The CS and Emerson were what you used to carry? Cause I guess those would look pretty intimidating to non-knifers. Sounds like you do a lot of hands on grunt work though... it must be annoying that even persons who do similar work and know how useful such tools are are giving you a hard time. Sheesh.

Honestly I'd say the large Cold Steel Voyager is not intimidating at all (4 inch blade) but if they thought the AK-47 was, I can't be sure...

$100 will net you an Ontario Retribution Medium folder, one of my favorite larger folders, great ergonomics for larger hands (like mine) and wonderful blade steel. Check out some pics, it doesn't look intimidating to me.

Well, there's always the Opinel #12. It's about as unintimidating a blade as you can get. Pretty ergonomic in use but opening and closing are a little... less than ideal.

I didn't even think about that, but I have a Grip with sheepsfoot as well and it is pretty non-threatening... Guess it's hard for us knife guys to sometimes think like the sheeple. ;)

Yea this time of year I'm doing more inside then outside work, it's not like my perm job it's on and off like 6 months a year summer and winter times sometimes more. But I always got issues about my knives while doing it and I'm ready to just get a good sheeple friendly user.

Whatever you get, maybe spray paint or Duracoat the scales in some pretty color to make the knife less scary. Seriously. Yellow, orange, etc. It's all about perception. You could carry a machete if it had Sponge Bob stickers on it. The statutory definition of an assault rifle, for example, lists features that just look scary. Remove the scary looking features, and its the same gun, but no longer an assault rifle. Same idea with your knife.

The spyderco resilience is a good folder it's a good size and it's more impressive then intimidating in my opinion

Ka Bar Dozier Big Easy? Slipjoint but nice and big and not too threatening. Not made in the US but a good price.

Sounds like you need something that will take a beating but is sheeple friendly. SOG Pentagon Elite is not bad, nor is the mini xray vision. Could look at a Spyderco endura or stretch in zdp-189, that will take a good pounding. You could get a ZT0200 or 0350 blem for less than $100.

Here's few suggestions.

Boker Plus Epicenter. Big knife but in an elegant way. ( around $100)

BM Bone Collector ( a tad over budget)

At the other end of the spectrum a Queen Mountain Man or a Case Back Pocket

zero tolerance 0350 used less than 100, kershaw blur for fast deployment and the tanto is excellent for office carry! :)

My vote goes for a Buck 110, cheap, reliable, and pretty much any non-knife people recognize them and generally are not intiminated by them.

I like this boker epicenter but I hear that they have bad lock rock problems.
