Good non-threatening or hardly noticeable edc pocket knife?

I used to open beers w/a Bic lighter. Now I don't drink, smoke, or go out.

I hope the two aren't related.

Forgot to mention that I also carry a Leatherman Squirt PS4, but either the Tinker or the Squirt by themselves would do fine. I do prefer having a longer blade than the Squirt provides, though.

I may be slow, but I don't follow.

Just a silly joke implying that opening beers with a Bic lighter somehow led to a condition that keeps you stuck at home. Think an explosion or something. Don't worry about it. :p

ahhh.... Sorry, just didn't catch it.

No, just being a dad, husband, employee, busy... No time for going out!

Some of the ones I like for this role:

Chris Reeve Mnandi - expensive option
Case Peanut
Case Swayback Jack
SAK Pioneer
Spyderco Dragonfly

SAK, Leatherman Juice, Sodbuster, Higonokami, Opinel 8, a smaller Michael Morris Friction Folder.
Nothing that looks too "stabby".
I'd say Leatherman is the least threatening, most NKP's forget they even have a knife blade on there. I've seen UK policemen totally ignore a leatherman (with locking blade) during a search but then start asking awkward questions about a UKPK.
Actually there's no accounting for the completely irrational way some NKP's can twist their imagination to work out how the most innocuous blade can be used to kill someone. Even a Spyderco Bug or a Stanley Knife. I'm sure even a "grain of rice" penknife will get someone asking you "if you're planning to kill someone".

Just addin my 2¢ as its allready been covered but my personal favorite small SAK is the Victorinox electrician.

Another vote for Victorinox. I always carry a Vic Executive, no matter what else I might carry that day. IMO, the Executive pairs up well with the Alox Pioneer/Soldier.

I'll join the Swiss chorus. Have carried a SwissChamp since 1986. As I get older the magnifying glass gets a lot of use, but every tool on the knife has got a workout, in fact that is the only corkscrew I have ever needed! Wenger good too. I carry a gerber with a pocket clip in RH pocket when driving as a rescue tool. Leave it out of sight for most other purposes.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'll consider a SAK, or I'm also considering a small spyderco or mini griptillian

If you want something small/disarming but very robust. (and very wallet friendly I might add) You might want to check out the cold steel mini tuff lites. I got one (in pink) for my wife and when I took it out of the box and opened it I did'nt want to put it down. Ended up ordering one in orange an hour later. Just food for thought.
Also +1 on SAK's, excellent tools especially for the cost.

Get a SAK Huntsman - lots of friendly tools, including scissors, tweezers, and a corkscrew (probably borrowed by my wife and office ladies more than any other blades I have) as well as the usual screwdrivers/can opener, an awl (for new belt holes made necessary by college pizza and beer), large and small blade (backup) and a saw (pretty useful for its size).

how about crkt they have some really nice (cosmetically at least) folders that lean towards a gentlemen folders

Victorinox Soldier. Any of the 91mm SAKs are good and choice depends on your taste.

Take a look at traditional slip joints. I would think one 3.5" or less would be very non-threatening and should work just fine. Take a look at the GEC, Queen, and Case lines.

But a SAK would be my choice. Carry one everyday and it gets used 10x more than any other knife I might carry or own.

Spyderco Delica is a nice carry knife also. I would use it as the upper limit of blade length if you want not to be noticed.

I'm stunned to the point of laughter that people are suggesting knives like Spyderco or the Kershaw Leek. Don't get me wrong. They're fine knives and great choices for EDC use, but they are a very long way away from being the MOST people friendly, as the OP asked. Combine one hand open, an audible click and a pointy blade and people will think weapon. And they wouldn't be entirely wrong on that.

SAKs are a great choice. So are Opinels, especially if you file the tip to a drop point. Pocket sized Leatherman also are well accepted nearly universally. Here's my EDC set. Very people friendly.
