Gord Begg, think of it as you wandering into a local bar or restaurant long established, you go out of your way upset those who have built the place, patronized it, paid their bills on time for quite a while, and you proceed to piss on the potted plant in the corner. What's the outcome going to be outa that scenario, and put aside all the mystical martial arts nonsense for a moment. You are gonna get bounced, pure and simple.
Wherever you came from, fine, go back, we'll be here when you think of something else clever to say. As far as any of that other happy horsesh!t you are posting about reckonings, etc, keep in mind when you go into someone's living room it's just common sense to mind your manners till you learn the ground rules. Otherwise, when you start spewing off all sorts of nonsense people look at you funny. If you've made it thru life this far without discovering this simple truth, it's time to stop drinking the combat ninjitsu Cool-aid and maybe take a few breaths of real air.
Shiva Ki et al were put out on the doorstep becuase he could not play by a few simple rules. You've stayed inside them so far, why leave? Hell, a few opposing viewpoints may do you some good.
I have heard he puts out a great knife, but he's comes across as a real weirdo. So what, be weird, but don't expect folks to socialize with him if he's gonna be like that. If he wants to "set the record straight," either
1) Play nice with the other kids and come back and post
2) Sue for Tortuous Interference with Business, slander or libel (good luck on that one BTW)
3) Start his own forum with whatever level of membership he cares to initiate -
4) Just be an adult, decide BFC ain't for him and build knives instead of destroy his reputation
Personally, I would go with option 4, followed by 1 in a while, after he's had a chance to properly look at things, figure out why he cannot communicate with folks outside the inner circle that well, and then rebuild that bridge. As I've said, it's been reported to me the guy builds a good knife and I am not adverse to spending the kind of money he wants for a knife. I am however not going to spend it on a knife made by a complete wierdo who's going to denegrate other systems when one can read his own site and see the Cool-aid factor screaming thru. If you want to charge $1200 per knife, it's best not to insult the client base who can afford your wares. I'm in that potential base and so are a large portion of the folks here. Why go all weird on us, just because you can?
In other words, don't run off all pissy like a schoolkid mumbling under your breath, just suck it up and figure out in a privately-owned establishment there may be a few rules. 8000+ people manage to live inside those rules, some of us every single day. You're not special and neither is Mr. Ki, ergo, they apply to us ALL. He chose to piss on those rules, pure and simple, and there's been nothing but whiny noises about it since.
You speak consistenly of FAIR. This place is perhaps the most forgiving atmosphere in the e-knife world. I've stepped on the line a few times, been warned about it, pressed the issue, but when all is said and done and the grudges were set aside, I'm still here. All is forgiven between transgressor and mods, transgressor and the forum, assuming you can get those rules thru your head. If you want more fair than that, go get some cotton candy and ride the roller coaster. See the clowns. It's all good and it's all up to you. The rules are posted at the front door and you click a little dealie saying you read em and you agree with em when you join.

That is why I started this thread, to state *MY* ideas, not Shiva Ki's.
I mention Shiva Ki in this thread, by way of 'example'.. nothing more; you will not find me posting any of his ideas or thoughts, by me, on his behalf.
The story about the 'bar', Mr. Parker, is familiar to me, but is not really an accurate illustration of my actions here, in the B/F.
I didn't 'piss' on anything, let alone a potted plant.
I pay my bills on time, and despite being mean-mouthed roundly, I have not replied with profane/rude accusations.
What I have done, is to speak up for, and attempt some defense of a man, who I found out, was not able to be here to defend himself in this place, at this time;
and now, because of me being attacked for doing this, I defend myself.
One thing I would like to ask, "when was Shiva Ki asked, or made an offer to, 're-join this forum?"
My understanding is, he is currently 'banned'.
Anyway, Mr. Parker, regarding the bar, and defending a 'downed' man, so to speak..
If the downed man was you Mr. Parker, and I don't know who you are, but.. if I saw you 'downed', and unable to defend yourself, and you were being 'bullied' - attacked, while in your defenseless position, you know what I would do?
I would come to *your* defense, Mr. Parker....
You see.. it's a matter of "principle"
... a matter of doing the "right-thing."
.. why, I'd even do it for the chap who called me an, "Asshat".
How many of you could really stand by and watch a defenseless person be 'beat-up'?
Ask that question.. and even if you did not take action, how many on this page , 'deep down', really think what they are seeing, *is right*. ?
