Good reliable bowie

Best of luck in your search.

If you really plan on actually using these things, a small axe and a small knife is a much more capable combination for equal or less weight.

My experience has shown me that a wilderness hatchet or machete (depending on the environment) and a Fallkniven F1 is a superior combination.

Have fun.

Here's another vote for the Condor Dundee Bowie. 11" blade, 1076 carbon steel, 3/16" thick. A choppin', batoning beast. Definitely my favorite :-)

And a heck of a deal, too. Check out Baryonyx knives and have fun!

It's a reason the BK9 is named "The King". I dont doubt there are better steels, and better designs out there, but for the price, my opinion is that you'll get a deal that no one can match with the BK9.

I can't lie, I feel my self slipping closer and closer to ordering one myself. Something attractive about it's crudeness and simplicity.

MMHW keep your eyes open on the forums and ebay you can score one in your price range.

Tell me about it  Really looks like a badass bowie, only thing I don't like that much is the handle. It looks really thin compared to the HUGE blade and that bothers me for some reason. But that differentially hardened L6 steel, oh man ! Watching BlackForestGhost's review isn't helping much either, good thing I don't have 200€ lying around atm :D

So my question is, do you guys know a 10'' bowie knive, wich is broader than the bk9, has a full profile and full length tang, is made out of 1095 carbon steel, and is 1/4 thick ? My price range is 150 dollars, or 130 euros.

Edit : Forgot to say that i am looking for a flat ground one

BK 5 is just under .2" thick, but is (only) 8" and flat ground.

The new Kabar Jarosz chopper is also just shy of .2" thick and is just shy of 10"

Neither is a true "bowie", but very bowie-esque.

Boker Arbolito El Gigante is 9.25" but is stainless, bohler n695... it is .24" thick flat ground slab though!

IMO....the new Becker BK29 by Ka-Bar, but that is only available as a bundle deal (good deal tho) currently. Here it is next to a BK9....
