Good, rugged titanium folder for $250.00 +-

You , sir , have excellent taste. If ever there was a flipper that I'd own it would be that bottom knife in the pic.

Question : in your opinion , do you feel that the flipper trigger would pose a problem if the knife was carried loose in the pocket with the clip removed ?

I drop mine in my pocket (clip still on) a good bit, and have not had a problem with it. Detent is solid so unless you are sprinting, jumping and really active I do not see it being a problem at all.

ZT 801 is a great deal and one awesome knife..

Slysz Bowie is perhaps my favorite knife though, and the one that I carry the most often.

Lets not forget about the beautiful utility that is the Sage2

Or the perfection that is the Native5

Just want to get everyone's opinions on what they like. I have a ZT 801. Pictures are always a plus.

Thanks

Leaning towards the 0095. Any other recommendations ?

ZT 0095BW is the best slicer in the ZT line and highly recommended but remember it has a thinner blade stock.

Titanium frame lock?

Flipper opening mechanism?

You mentioned $250+but what's your upper limit?

Blade length and thickness preferences?

Full titanium or could the presentation side be another handle material?

Wow , everyone loves the Slysz Bowie.

Now I need to take a closer look. And just when I was going to try a new flipper.

The ZT 0456 = gorgeous in my eyes.

Another vote for Spyderco Slysz Bowie. A very refined and smooth titanium frame lock folder. It's a little smaller (3.4" blade) than ZT 0801 and weighs just 4.25 ounces. A little pricey at about $300. The CTS-XHP blade is FFG and crowned. Perhaps not as rugged as you'd like.

If you want a beefy beautiful beast go with ZT 0456! It's also smaller than your ZT 0801. About $240 but with premium steel.

By the way, ZT 0801BW is being discontinued so it's discounted to sell for around $150 or so!

You can find a used Satu for around your price mentioned and it is an under rated folder for sure. I've had hinderers and striders and they cost more and truthfully I can't see why. It's a beast of a folder though and it flips open very smoothly. You may want to check them out, I guess they are a midtech knife but very well made.

I picked up a Grayman Dua recently and really like it:

The all-Ti version is actually the same price as the G10-scale version (it's a thin G10 scale sitting on top of a Ti liner), but I actually preferred the G10 one in person. It's a very simple, stout folder that feels great in the hand and is completely "no-nonsense."

If you want GOOD and RUGGED, the Spyderco TUFF in CPM 3V is about as good as it can get.

was gonna go for ZT0095, but it turns out that the blade stock is much thinner that others ZT :(

i just got another 0801 for $138, great deal!

That's a nice knife. But where can one find such a knife ?

Out of the Seb 21, 25, Hinderer, Strider, Dua, and Satu - the last one is the best big folder for the money. I can only comment on what I own.

I respect your opinion but have to say that the D9 is $199 and the ZT0801 is $192, the ZT0220 is $228, the ZT0456 is $240, ZT0808 is $200 and ZT0562 is $200. I don't think we are talking that much difference in price and the ZT's are made in the USA, have a warranty/customer service record that is beyond compare and are also tanks.

If you think USA made for the same price beats it no matter how much better the Reate is than that's your opinion. If your concern is warranty work I can tell you that Reate does as good of a job as anyone can expect an overseas company to do.
From the start they give you a full set of replacement screws, washers, and a lockbar insert with each knife, and if there is a problem that is covered they will send you a new knife and pay for the old one to be shipped back to them. And IMO the better quality means less issues in the first place.
