Good simple field sharpener for izula?

my favorite sharpener to carry around is a falkniven dc3. works great and small enough to forget you have

I have been wondering about the DC3 vs. DC4 for the last few days. The 3 is quite a bit smaller than the 4. At the moment I'll only be dealing with shorter blades (Izula and RC-3), but my only experience has been with v-mounted rods.

Do you think that the DC3 would be easy to learn free-handing with, or would the DC4 be better for a first timer? I like your comment about the 3 being small enoutg to forget you have it. I suspect that I might be more likely to have it with me in the field...

Id go with the DC4. The difference in size isnt that big, and the bigger surface area of the 4 makes sharpening easier.
