So I'm looking for a decent quality tactical folder for pretty cheap (up to 25$) that I can use as a beater. My edc right now is a Ferber fast draw half serrated. It's a nice knife but I want something else. It can be half serrated or plain blade, it doesnt really matter. Pocket clip would be preferred. I don't want anything less than a 2.9 inch blade. Preferably something that's doesn't get super scratched up by keys. Also I think id want it to be available at Walmart or target or some place like that. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I think CRKT has many selections that would fit, go to the CRKT site see what you want and check the price at Amazon.

For a beater edc does it have to be tactical ?
The buck bantam isn't exactly tactical, but it is a good American made beater blade for only 20$ at Walmart. It's one hand opening, has a pocket clip , and has no coating for keys to scratch off.

I agree with the Buck Bantam 285. Available at big box stores, 3.1" blade, Buck's warranty, and US made.

I have a mini bantam I like. I just don't use because it's small

The mini or the key chain sized nano bantam ? They have a small , medium, and large sizes as well as the 283 nano which I don't think should even be considered a bantam as it looks totally different ( great little blade though )

Kershaw Thermite or Cryo II. Both available at Walmart, for right about $25.

You can get any Schrade or S&W knife for way less than $20 in 7Cr17, 8Cr13MoV and 9cr18Mov steel. Speaking as someone who actually used them, those buggers can take quite a fair bit of abuse and punishment.

Schrade has also been going wild with > 3" blades ( :( )in their 2017 catalog, so knock yourself out.

Kershaw Emerson CQC 6K is another option. Free ship to store probably thru the website.

Check out the Byrd Cara Cara 2, I doubt walmart carries them in store but you can order it from them and pick it up in store. Tactical is kind of a blanket term and could mean many different things but I guess the Cara Cara could be tactical.

Go to CRKT and look around, you are bound to find something you like. otherwise the Ontario Rat 1 is always a great choice

It's the 284 so I guess the medium one. There's a couple s&w ones at orileys I like. I wasn't aware you could get a kershaw for that cheap.

Meyerco has very cheap versions of models by Greg Lightfoot, Kirby Lambert, and Jeff Hall. They're heavy (steel liners) and a little rough around the edges. But they're solid performers for very low prices. Like under $20 with Amazon Prime.

I've got a Meyerco Lightfoot Catch Dog. The blade centering and grind symmetry are actually better than some Emersons I've owned (no joke).

I keep it in the tool roll in the trunk of my car. It's a great toolbox knife for when I've got to do rough work that I wouldn't want to subject my "good" EDC knife to: scraping paint, stripping wires, cutting steel-reinforced exhaust hangers, and trimming indoor-outdoor carpet for example. Not going to subject my Sebenza or Microtch LCC to that kind of abuse.

Kershaw Link or Dividend.

Avoid the Buck Bantam series, the back lock is poorly molded into the plastic handle and will budge loose and fail with any kind of heavy use.
