Google doesn't like balisongs

Again, according to Fred at Knife Outlet, the Googlers actually went into his site and FOUND the butterfly knives, and then decided they couldn't accept the Knife Outlet ads.

If "Googler Bart" just up and ADMITTED they were a bunch of prejudiced, intolerant knife-bigots, I could at least have some shred of respect for them.

Now I don't.

They are DISHONEST, prejudiced, intolerant knife-bigots...and probably just plain ole DISHONEST, PREJUDICED, INTOLERANT, CLOSED-MINDED BIGOTS... PERIOD.

They and their "political correctness activism" comprise a great deal of what's wrong with this country. Bart's comments on airport security were especially bothersome to me. ANY knives will be confiscated, yet Google doesn't seem to have a problem with selling me a SAK to "give" to the FAA if I accidentily have one on me at a checkpoint (no, that won't happen--I don't fly).

As he so often is, Don is right on again.

This gentleman from google has written his own condemnation:

Yes I know radar detectors are illegal in Virginia But let's look at the level of impact, please.

Yes, I agree with this gentleman: Let's look at the level of impact.

I will gladly bet this gentleman a month's pay that more crimes are committed every day with radar detectors than have been committed with balisong knives in the last twenty years.

I'll gladly bet that we can link more injuries and more deaths in the last twenty years to radar detectors than butterfly knives by at least two orders of magnitude. (And I don't even think that radar detectors have been on the market for twenty years.)

A balisong knife is a practical tool with many legitimate uses. I've never used one in a crime. But, I have used many of them for good purposes. Some of the work on the new school building at my church was done with a balisong knife.

On the other hand, even in states where they are legal a radar detector has only one purpose: to facilitate a crime.

This gentleman from google would doubtlessly say that speeding isn't a serious crime. But I'll bet you that more people are injured or killed by speeding drivers every year than by criminals using all kinds of knives combined.

I'll say it again, a balisong is a tool that can, like so many tools, possibly be used for illegal purposes. A radar detector is a device with one purpose only: to facilitate a crime.

The gentleman's "reasoning" shows how silly these people are, "Balisong knives are illegal in some states. We can not block ads by state. Therefore, we can not accept ads that involve balisong knives in any way. Radar detectors are illegal in at least one state. We can not block ads by state. BUT, we'll accept the radar detector ads anyway because of what WE think about 'the level of impact.'"

And that's my point right there. Google has taken it upon themselves to decide what they think the "level of impact" of something is. That's a subjective decision. Making that decision involves a bias. Google has shown us what their bias is and it is anti-knife.

I don't think the parents of a kid who was killed by a speeding motorists would consider the radar detector to have a low level of impact. No if you go into an airport with a radar detector you won't get it taken but if you get pulled over in VA you damn sure will. Don and Chuck are right (as usual) and these people are just using their fear (seems like Bart most of all) as an excuse to not advertise balisongs. They just can't seem to see the knife for what it is- a tool. I wonder what Bart's Granddad would say about this?

Sheeple make me sick.

Well, so far, we have Virginia and you can add Washington, D.C. to that list. It's a "State" in this conversation as far as I'm concerned.

Further, in ALL Commercial Vehicles over 10,000 pounds and change [It's 10,*** something...] Radar Detectors are ILLEGAL by Federal Law.

So, Google wants to play the Federal Law Card, there it is. How do they know they are not advertising the illegal sale of a Radar Detector to a truck driver, eh?

It's not that I agree or disagree with the laws in question, it is just to further box in Google and Ole Bart because I think they are being selective and anti-knife.

Connecticut has repealed their law with regard to banning Radar Detectors.

Scanners are another issue, in some States, you need a Permit even to own one, I believe I saw New York on that list. I think New York, like Jersey, California and Great Britain, should just make a short list of things you CAN own, it would simplify matters really...

How do they know people will get a permit for a scanner or a mobile scanner, in States that require that?

They don't, they leave it up to the CONSUMER...there is that magic word, it has to do with obeying the law and whatnot to begin with.

If Google sees fit not to involve itself in all of these things, then why do they single out the Balisong Knife?

Because it is E-Vile, that's why...that's what people in Law Enforcement say, or Politicians, or scared housewives. It's nonsense, be scared of Balisongs, Switchblades, double edged knives, non-metallic knives or "disguised" knives [in lipstick tubes, combs, etc.] all you want. Be fearful, chances are according to Calibre Press, you are going to get aced with a common screwdriver.

This is absurd, there position is absurd.

I have to say something that might not be popular with some people, if it does not apply to you, don't get offended.

This guy has every appearance of a typical, Management Guy in a Suit. Of course, it is California, like Maryland, the gift that keeps on giving. It might be a bit more laid back in Kalifornia, they might just be allowed to loosen the tie a bit and get some more oxygen into their brainpan.

E-Bay sees fit to go by California Law and make everyone else live that nightmare, when it comes to Balisong Knives...

At least Google is adding something to that and not merely saying, "E-bay is based in California, we're going by our State Law."

These people, I've dealt with them before, they are like Obi Wan Kenobi... The Jedi Mind Trick.

If they say something, you are expected, it is required and demanded of you, to nod your head in agreement.

He keeps saying the same thing over and over again, like someone is going to believe that is the real deal. Sheeesh...

I'm not one of your Juniors in your Office, Bart, I don't have to agree with you, you're simply putting into place an anti-knife policy.

I don't know why they just don't admit it and move on...

no Don it is not like Obi-Wan and the mind trick.

This involves nothing but hatred and fear.
