O.K. Goose I just have to ask. Why do you want
another bg-42 and not a 110 with s30v?
Is it a blade swape thing?

Well , Dav,Scott, 110, wh4f, I was just wandering.I read
a lot of post here about BG-42,this and BG-42 that.I know
he has a Bg-42 with the eye thing. And I did not have anything
at all to wander about, so there you go .The s30v thing I did not know
if he had one are not.So I guess I am just nosy.

Well, to answer Jeff's "BG or not BG...that is the question"...

My first non-4xx steel 110 was a 110NS FG BG-42 Walnut w/ pins that I got from a Buck brother here that I haven't seen here for a bit (zzjake).
It has not cut a thing and sits in it's little masoleum along with my other "Top 5 110 Du Jour display".
Well, actually, I may have had the AG S30V first...but anyway, the BG-42 was my first "Custom".
I didn't want to use it...I'm wierd that way. I actually have cans of Spam that I collect that have never been opened...but that's another story.

So, I wanted to order a 110 BG-42 as a user. But, when I was about to, a little bird told me that Buck had about 50 units of 110 Stanless Damascus blanks available. So, game time decision from about 4 months ago was to go with Damascus and get the BG-42 later.

Well...by the time I had abstained enough from the auction site to order a BG-42 I heard that Buck was out. Thanks to a fellow fowl (Trax) here on the forum, I got word of the 110NS BG-42 Golden Eye that I am now using as my EDC.

Why don't I go for S30V? I have three 110 S30V AG. Two are rosewood so I use one of them. Plus I EDC a TNT (S30V). Then there's the 110BP CPM154. I also have a 298 ATS-34 that I use. And another ATS-34 AG Russell that I used to use in the kitchen.
Plus, the Custom Page doesn't have the S30V option on the BUILD IT gig.

So Jeff, if you are still reading this, I want a 110NS FG BG-42 Koa with pins as a user (I'll clean up the Golden Eye and put it away since it's odd). Why Koa? I grew up in Hawai'i and that's their wood.

And you are right Dave...we wanna do drunken Karoke singing if we ever get togehter (don't count on that as I have only been that drunk once). And, as for the 112 temptations...I'm a slut. Let me know when it happens.

Actually, I have been looking to see where I can find a single data point of the different steels.
I got that little sheet that graphs S30V against the standard steels but I want to see something that defintively compares 154CPM, S30V, 4xx H/C, BG-42, ATS-34, whatever.

So, I may be swayed to change my mind Jeff.

Jeff, your homework assignment is to find me that one source of data. ;)

Pics, we need pics...or are they at spamforums.com:D . Test results for BG42 vs. S30V too, like "how many cans of spam were opened before resharpening was needed".

Goose , there was a guy at the bass pro shop in by dfw that had some
stats on the different steels and what was in them.I think it was different
from what is on the Buck sight.When i have time to go back i will look
him up.To get my homework. LoL
I was not sure if you had any s30v,so the reason for the Queston.
I can understand the Custon thing, after looking at Bucks 110 build it now thing.
