Gorilla Super Glue?

I put a light coat of paste wax on anything I don't want adhesives on. Keep the bead of super glue a bit back from the front of the scales. I also keep a rag corner dampened with acetone to help try to clean any squeeze out. You can use acetone to do clean up afterwards, it's kind of tedious cause you're basically wiping away "melted" layers of CA.

Thank you, Will. After all this, I've got to give it a try!

Yeah, the active ingredient in most of the super glue removers is acetone. I use the acetone finger nail polish remover to clean CA messes. Best bet is just like with any adhesive mess is to get it before it sets. With GSG there's a bit of set up time so it's not like using a "true" super glue. But it's not a lot of time :p

I have a small brass chisel that I use to back acetone soaked cloth to get in right next to the scales.

Thanks again, Will. Great idea about the brass chisel; less chance of scratching the ricasso. Just got one off Ebay just for that purpose!

Mitch, people sell them  grrr didn't know that... seriously, I didn't know that. My brass chisel is probably older than eBay though so I guess it'll be alright.

Note to self.... check the internets for stuff before making them....

At least you have a 'custom' ... and your DIY pride. :)
