Hello everybody,

There was a factory here in Augusta that made drill bits. Well, they were bought out and this location closed so they had an auction. They had a ton of equipment for sale, and I happened upon a super deal! I just wanted to share this with some people who would appreciate it, because all I got from my wife was "what, is that a good deal?"

The first thing I bought was a wilson model 4 JR hardness tester. It came with the following:
weight set
11 Diamond tip penetrators:eek:
5 "B" scale tips
6 rubber tipped things (not sure what those are)
7 standard test blocks
11 different anvils
plus the table it is sitting on and everything in the drawer, which was a bunch of random tap and dies, and reamers and some misc. stuff

All of this for....wait for it...$60!!!
Here it is

I also bought a K O Lee surface grinder model b603 with the magnetic chuck and about 50 different brand new grinding wheels for $75!!! It is still in the back of my truck and to dark to take a picture of it now, but I will get one eventually.

What kind of deals have you guys scored?

You know, I bet you could sell the trash in the drawer and cover the purchase costs of everything else.

Haha, easy guys...:)

Count I think you're right. I'm gonna hit fleabay and see what that stuff is going for.

Jastab, sorry but I'll have to pass. I will be getting rid of my other hardness tester, but it doesn't have the weights with it.

Well, I'm happy for you! I love to see people do well. I love to see success.
I'm always happy when a friend gets a raise or his business does well. It's good for everyone.

You suck Adam. ;)

I'd have said $60 was a good deal for the table and all those taps and dies.

Heck, that's a $4 Allen wrench in there! ;) :D

Yup, deep seething hatred.

I've gone to many such auctions and never got such a deal.

Damn. Thats great. My neighbor the clockmaker sold me two fully functioning jewlers lathes with all the chucks an cutters for $75. Even threw in an additional motor. Woot!

Since you're in GA, you should also check out WM Redmond and Sons. Its west of the city on Mtn. Industrial. They have this huge warehouse full of used machines. They also sell new stuff, but the deals are on the used stuff that needs some TLC. I started my shop out over there.

She knows you got a good deal. She's been around this stuff enough to know that spending less than $200 was a blessing. Tell her I said Hi.
