Got a deer used my BK2 to field dress

Oh boy, that is a bummer. I've lived in Fairless Hills, Levittown, and Morrisville outside of Philly. I definitely prefer the woods where I live now lol. You need to move.
 
Oh i am bud, Im buying land down in florida now... In the woods all by myself, small county town of about 1000 people total, I grew up there and was in such a hurry to leave... now im in such a hurry to get back LMAO :D

I'm in Bloomsburg area now. It's nice. Went to school at Bloomsburg University and got a job out of college in the area and just stayed. Congrats on the land in Florida.
 
Nice, your right on the river, very nice location indeed. Philly is just hell! But you area is very nice.

And thanks man, i cant wait to get back somewhere i can actually walk outside and use my knives and bow when i feel like it.
 
If our "property/land" was really ours like the founders intended it to be it shouldn't mater how you kill an animal, whether from a motorized vehicle or at night with a flashlight :)
 
yea im not a hunter so i dont know much about the laws/rules but i think its kind of silly to tell someone when they can hunt for food. but i guess if they didnt deer would go extinct.
 
Well I just read an article in Time Magazine that deer population is up 800% from 1979 so I don't think they are doing too bad lol!

Send some of them to ND!! Our deer population has takena huge hit over the last 3 or 4 years. In our 16 day rifle season I only saw around 30 deer. 5vyears ago it would have been well over a hundred.

Deer are the number 1 killer of humans (in the US) of all the animals in the kingdom....because of car crashes. I think bees are 2nd, because of unknown allergies.
 
I'm not a hunter, so this might be a silly question...How much meat did you get off of your doe, and how much did/does it cost to process one?

I remember learning that when our founding fathers got here deer were on verge of extinction from eating up all their resources, until hunting controls were implemented. Idk the science of it.

yeah, I'm not really all that knowledgable in wildlife populations but I'm slowly learning. It just seems that many of the hunted species are thriving for some reason. Gluttony is bad in all situations :)
 
Actually in PA, any baiting during hunting season is illegal. Not 100% sure about the ATV issue as you weren't on a public highway.

I wouldn't take a BK-2 as a hunting knife unless that is all I had. I find it just to clumsey to use for detailed tasks. But that is my experience. I have plenty of customs lying around for the task that are just about the right size. The BK-16 works pretty well. The BK-14 or BK-24 would work well too.

Been playing around with my BK-24 and I am liking it better than the BK-14. I seem to be able to get it sharper.

Thank you trailbum! The rifle is probably considered a bit heavy by most hunter standards since it has a bull barrel on it but I like how accurate it is. I need to get a better sling before the next season, I'm not too keen on the one I have on there now. It falls off the shoulder and that gets annoying.
