Got a HEST

I agree my Spydero is an easier to EDC and is bigger/longer than the Izula open. Smaller closed. But for a POST OFFICE rampage I thing the Izula with get more damaged done. :) That knife is stout... not that I'm crazy or anything just in the summer EDC with the Izula concealed wouldn't be that easy to me. Fall / Winter would be easier wearing a jacket or sweater IMO

I agree. I just think that once I EDC the Izula, I will feel weird going back to a folder. A fixed blade just offers so much more strength and durability and the Izula is also very light.

Well, I also want to pick up a Delica so that might cushion the blow when summer comes. :p

Yup thats my Spyderco.
Izula is pretty easy to carry. PPL say I just carry it in my front pocket. WTF to big. But I put it in my front pocket at work today and forgot about it:) A smaller sheath would work better. Like what wookie makes or just cut the RAT one.

Doesn't wookie make kydex sheaths? Are those smaller than the standard plastic?

I know this is off-topic but do you have any play with your Delica? I have a Salt 1 and and have a hint of side to side play and the blade moves up slightly when I apply some pressure. I imagine this is due to it being rivet-constructed but I'm not sure.

Nope no play. Mine has torque screws/ bolts. My Spyderco is my favorite folder. I have 6 Kershaws that are good and a few others. The Spyderco is VG 10 and the rest of my knives are 440. I can tell the difference. I have a Damascus knive also that's pretty nice. Good blade. The R.A.T knives are good also. MY Delica,Izula,RC4 and Hest all this month in the same order. Pretty good month for me. B-day next month so that maybe a better one :)

Depends where? Only one? Man.....for urban play and work, concealed in the summer the Izula. Easier to hide. But for serious work, play lot of beer in cooler weather the Hest. The Hest would be good to conceal with a coat better work knife. An can drink lots of beer :). If I have to dress up my Spyderco. Never seen. If I edc and didn't care if anyone saw it ...the HEST. If I only could only afford one...the Hest. That's a hard question sure glad I can have more than one.:) But over all the Hest is small. Legal EDC in my area. And it's alot of knife for it's size.

Great answer. Man, I really want a HEST but I think it'll just have to wait. I find it funny that the bottle opener seems to be your (and my) most important feature on the HEST. :p

Have you stored anything in-between the micarta handles?

Well the bottle opener makes the knife more usefull. I haven't stored anything yet or even took them off yet. This weekend I'm going to play with all my knives. I just got them all and had no time to play.Except for cutting rope at work. But the Hest is about to get a workout tonite. :)

I cannot remember the last time I've needed a bottle opener.
Fortunately, it's not in the way on the HEST, or it would have been a deal-breaker.

the bottle opener makes the knife more badass-how many people at a party whip out a world class survival knife designed by one of the most reputable survivalists to crack open a cold one? Esav makes a good point though, only a schmuck would sacrifice strength and performance in a survival knife to add something like a bottle opener. Pelton did this knife right.

Yup I use a bottle opener every time I open a beer. Usually on the weekends when I watch UFC,football or play Xboxlive :)

I'm an Eagles fan. And no, I'm not happy with Vick but at this point, I'm used to getting big names with little substance ---> a la, T.O.

Randy Couture and BJ Penn for me. Sweet setup you got there. Are you setting up your surround sound?

Bj Penn I like but he's to small for 175 Randy I like also but he's just old Fight tommorrow. I wish we got Vick. But he's probally rust from all the loving he got in prison. No I'm all set up I just change alot.I plan on getting new speakers someday. Wait till the economy get alittle more secure.

you know it's going to be redundant to get both a HEST and a RC3 RATPACK edition, and it's against my better judgement to do so, but I think I'll put in an order for a numbered HEST because Robert Young Pelton epitomizes what I want my life to be-a balls to the walls, on the fringe explorer that gets to experience the world like very few ever get to do. So before I change my mind (I have a pack of Drifter pale ale in me) I'll put in an order for a numbered HEST. If I can't live the life of RYP, I might as well support him!
