Got Bear Grylls Knife

I'm curious whether or not any of the naysayers in this thread have actually used the knife in question. I haven't, so can't really offer any negative, or positive feedback. As I said in an earlier post, it's your money, buy what you want. If you like it, and it suits your needs, that is all that matters. :)

Well, with the orange you won't lose it. And the grip looks quite usable, although I haven't held one.

Honestly, it's got one of the most ergonomic grips I've had.

I'd be more interested in the fixed blade, if they made a version without the serrations.

I actually told Gerber by email that there was a lot of interest online in a PE version and they implied anyway that they are thinking about it.

Is the knife imported?

Yes, China on the box, but not on the knife, which if I understand right, is now legal??

you can kick me off the site if you want. I really just wanted one question answered about a hand drill thread I made.

I wont come back.

peace!

I wish you would come back and read a wide variety of posts by a vide variety of members. I think you would better understand why you got the reaction you did when you mentioned the Grylls knife if you had a little history with the site. It's been done many times before.

i wish bear would use just one of this products on his show. it would really up sales!

got one as a gift comfy handle but the knife has seen no real use...I do like the integrated features of the sheath though.

Meh...I wouldn't buy one myself, but I would keep it and use it if given as a gift. Just buy what you like, because you like what you like, nobody can change that really.

One noob to another, don't leave yet. Honestly, the community here is shockingly friendly for a group on the internet. If you ask for help here you're likely to get a lot of very informative replies and useful information. That being said, people on here get pretty passionate about knives, brands, makers, etc. and someone here will probably criticize your choice no matter what. Don't take it personally, I recommend reading the criticism with an eye to what's being said as sometimes a serious flaw in design or execution of the knife can be pointed out.

Its made in china,so I will never handle it= and besides that strike against it,its serrated !!.

No one's kicking you off the site.
Did you not want honest feedback?
Someone did a review of the early release Bear Grylls knives, and they had issues.
Supposedly some of those issues have been addressed.
If you like it, great! They aren't too expensive, and should work for most things.

Here is the thread (it gets off topic quickly :D)
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/864471-Just-saw-Bear-use-his-knife-on-tv....

It was the 'Arizona Sky islands One' and apparently he has used it in a few episodes from what I have heard.
Watching him strike the fire-steel with the edge of the blade makes me sick every time :barf:

I've seen him only use the edge of the blade for the fire-steel. Doesn't give a lot of confidence for that little spot on the back of the blade that's supposed to be meant for this purpose.

IMO, in the $25-$40 range there are many other knives I would have considered/bought. Good luck with your new knife.

Can you name some jimnolimit? I'm still on the fence for getting one of these

nooooooooo

im not pissed at anyone.

I seriously signed up for one question haha.

I decided to post the grylls knife post because I coincidentally bought it that day too.

sorry if I sounded like a jerk!

I could always give the site a shot :)

I've not had a chance to mess with the fixed blade a lot, but have tested that part and it works just fine. Not sure why he uses the blade on the show though???

Another Bear Grylls knife thread.... sweet. Other than the early models with the weak plastic in the pommel has anyone broken one of these yet? I havent seen pics of a broken one. I watched bear baton down a thirty foot tall bamboo tree to make a raft out of it, with the Gerber BG knife. He started batoning out a notch around the tree and I was even thinking "Bamboo is harder than hell, is he sure about this?" But sure enough down it came. I believe the poster said he paid $32 for his, what Bark river, Busse or Himalayan knife are you comparing it against for $32? Here in Canada they start at $59 and go up for the fixed blade, when I find one cheaper than that ill be buying one. Anyone who bought or got gifted one and is terribly bothered by it, PM me, ill ease your burden.
