i guess i lost a little respect for my every day blade since january when i last got bit. i clean it every day but today i decided to talk while i was cleaning it and honestly i dont think i was even looking at the blade...lol. good thing its so dang sharp because its a big cut, spanning from the tip to the knuckle of the underside of my index finger. it shaved under the skin thin like a tomato but there was no pain and it closed almost instantly. could have been a lot worse. when was the last time you got bit?

Over the winter when I was using my brand new Mora #780 to cut apart some wood I had just split. It was held together with a few fibers, so I cut a few then tried pulling it apart with my hands, one of which was still holding the knife. The tip tapped my thumb, and then it started bleeding everywhere. :foot:

I always get HORRIBLY embarassed whenever I cut myself. It's never bad, and it's never often (only 1-2 times per year!) but it always makes me feel a bit of a fool. :o

Cut myself last with my Busse BATAC. I was sharpening it, and was talking to my wife at the same time. Well, I guess it figured that was disrespectful, and it turned around and bit my middle finger deeply. It took me over two hours to get it to stop bleeding, and it hurt for a solid two weeks. I wonder which one of them will get me next...

A knife will never really give itself to you until it tastes your blood. Then it will be yours forever.

Clean cuts don't hurt that bad. My last bite was my RAT 1 on Sunday. Before that was a jagged chop from my leatherman when I missed on the croc sticks, left a half inch scar on my left index knuckle.

I must say that since I implemented a stringent separation of booze and blades not only have I not cut my self but I haven’t mutilated a knife beyond repair. Not even once.

Haha^^^^yea, what he said. I needed surgery for mine. Sliced my pointer finger on my right hand and cut through tendon, artery and nerve. Fun times, after 5.5 hours in the emergency room it was still bleeding, even through the 10 stitches and 2 days it was still gushing. I have some pics but theyre pretty gruesome, if anyone wants me to post Ill go ahead.

Not to be morbid, but humans are curious creatures...Pics?

I've gotten better with my knives, but occasionally I just find random little cuts all over. I don't know what it is. Perhaps I'm just careless and they actually do knick me here and there, but it just seems so unlikely.

Last bad one I got was while I was at my girlfriend's parents' place. Closed a slipjoint without moving my index finger completely out of the way. Got kind of deep, what with the dripping and all, but after some superglue and time, it eventually closed up. Got a bit of scar tissue there now though.

I got cut by my friend's new Kershaw Zing..on the exact same place on both of my thumbs. It happened a few days apart but damn did it bleed alot and the cuts were so identical it looked like i had to try it purposefully. My BM 943 has also bitten me a few times with the long pointy blade.

I was on the river with my bro and some friends this weekend and was cutting limes for some of our beverages and the ClipHanger decided it was not satisfied with the citrus flavor and took a chunk out of my finger...

glad to know i'm not the only one who thinks this way. until it "claims" me, it doesn't really feel like my knife.... supmonkeyface should probably get that spydey.

Pics or it didn't happen.
I had a Spyderco police every time I opened it I got cut, so I traded it off.

Tony, I'm with you on the bali cuts. A few layers of painter's tape can help you get better at flipping without losing any digits.
My last good one was with my Henckles kitchen knives. (I've heard some people bash Henckles but I like mine) Thought I'd get a little fancy with my technique and accidentally filleted my middle knuckle. Had to abandon what I'd started, bandage up and continue on a little slower.

pics please!

First day I got my Busse NMFBM. Not paying close enough attention while drying it off, and it went straight through the pad of my index finger to the white meat. Put a little band-aid on it and the cut was so clean it stopped bleeding almost right away and healed in a couple days. I think I heard the blade laugh at me a little. I pay more attention now.
