Got dinged for DTBMBG

Beat on my DT some more today. Haven't quite made up my mind, but the rear talon may have to go. I feel like it adds some security and it looks awesome, but in hard chopping I've now slammed my pinky against it many times and it limits the ability to choke back for more reach/leverage. Still really like the feel of the knife overall, the size and contours on the scales are pretty much perfect for my hands.

Before you chop it off, try dehorning the edges on the rear talon. Made a big difference on mine.

I wondered how much difference that made for you. Have you chopped with it much since you did the mod? You're right though, there's no harm in trying that first if I'm already thinking about removal.

Not much. Just just took her for a spin right after I smoothed those edges. I noticed quite a bit of difference. I have been thinking about doing all the edges of the pommel area and maybe even sanding off the skull buster altogether. If I choke back on it and put that talon between my fingers it gives some extra reach and leverage but those edges make it uncomfortable.

Thanks for the input. I also experimented a little with putting my grip around the talon but the width and the relatively sharp edges make it uncomfortable for me. Aggressively rounding it out may be enough to make it work.

I was with high expectations but unfortunately it will not yet be the time when I will be the owner of my first BUSSE.

I had ordered a Double Talon back in January and it arrived at the Portuguese Customs last week.

Unluckly, it got stopped and due to the blade length the police will not me allow to have it.

I am trying to have it shipped back to BUSSE and I have even send them an e-mail regarding their policies in these situations.

Do you know if a a refunding is possible or if I can switch the order for another one (if the initial knife is returned to them)?

Thank you

Before grinding off the rear talon, first try rounding off the edges, they don't look very comfortable as a user.

I actually did that earlier this week at ClampDaddy's suggestion. I plan to do the front talon as well, but haven't gotten to it yet. While I was at it I took a little more off the primary grind as well. I'll be out in the field with it tomorrow to see how it does. Trying to get some good reps in before it has to compete for time with the Parang.

Ouch! What is the maximum legal length?

10 cms.

But it is a stupid law. A couple of weeks ago we had a blade fair and there hundreds of Knives at sale with blade longer than 10 cms. I mean there were even karambits and anyone could by them in plainsight without showing an id.

And then, when a knife arrives through the borders they do this. It is just stupid. And I am pissed of. I have just authorized the return só I guess that BUSSE will have a new Double Talon to Sell pretty soon.

This also ended any attempts on my side to buy knifes from the US. I got another one (this one under 10cms) that is giving me a Hard time since they want a justificativa for the acquisition. :(

Got out for a while with my DT today. Between the thinned, satin flats and the diy meltdown talons, it's a really nice user. The chamfered edges around the rear talon made a large difference for me in use. It's even noticeable with gloves on. I also thinned the width of the rear one a little, improving the comfort of a three finger grip. I only used that grip to try it for a few whacks though.

Keep in mind I wasn't trying to make it perfect by any means. Just went at it with a dremel and then hand-sanded with 180 and 400 grit SiC automotive sandpaper and mineral oil.

The coating in the choil has been smoothed out, but not totally removed:

The inside flats of both talons were taken down to bare metal like the back:

That is unfortunate. I have always wanted to visit Portugual. My family is all of Portuguese descent. From the islands though. Terceira on my mother's side, Sao Jorge on my father's side.
