Just recieved my MK-I. Been fondling it for a while, and I have to say, I'm really glad Moose and Ethan talked me into buying it! This is an EXCELLENT all around mid-size/bushcraft knife with an excellent sheath. It has good heft for a knife its size, and the kraton handle is very grippy. I always thought that the pictures made the handle seem too large, but this is not the case. It fits your hand perfectly.
I'm sure you could baton with it, but I wouldn't. I'm not a one-knife guy, and I use the best tool for the job, so batoning witll always go to the BK9 or BK2. But cutting, carving, notching, fabricating, field dressing....it should do all those easily. This is a very "slicey" knife, as either Moose or Ethan described it.
And for under $50?? You can't beat that!
Yeah, I know it's technically not a Becker, but it's a Kabar, and a knife 99% of Beckerhead/fans/bushcraftians will appreciate. Don't hestiate to pick one up! If you hate it, someone will buy it from you....and you can use the money to pay the deductible on a psyche eval.
