Got my Emerson stolen from the airlines!

I never put an expensive knife in my luggage. If someone takes off with my inexpensive knife, I'm not out much.

Not just knives , anything can be snagged by these bufoons.

My recommendation is this.

Say you have one big bag/case/whatever.

Put your items into those ziplock freezer bags , i.e. electronics - ipod , batteries , headphones , gps etc would all go into one freezer bag marked 'electronics' , inside this bag ( and all others ) would be an easily seen from the outside of the bag, printed , signed by you piece of paper with all items listed accurately down the serial number if applicable.

Repeat process for all valuables.

I have flown this way for going on four years and have not had anything 'lost' yet.

The folks that would try and rip you off are not college grads and papers that look official tend to befuddle their allready numb brains to look for easier prey.

So what airline?

Frontier out of Tucson. I wrote them three weeks ago. No response. I notice they have an email address for everything BUT lost luggage. Nice. Just called their 800#. Shucks. They are only open nine to five M-F with an hour off for lunch. Kinda like banks in the old daze.

Never heard back from Frontier so I got them on the phone today. They were polite but, bottom line: "Too bad, so sad, your dad." They only cover toiletries, clothes, and the actual baggage. Evidently that is standard airline fare. That knife, new, is $357 with the Valloten Auto Conversion. It's a $400 lesson. No, I won't do that again. And it will be a long time before I come up with another $400 for a knife like that. Thanks for the good ideas for the future. I especially like the "take a pic with your phone" one.
If I were twenty years younger I suppose I would go into a giant pissing contest which would net me nothing but a migraine, heartburn, and more anger management classes...:barf::grumpy:

No offense to anyone who lives there who's on this forum, I did until recently, but in Arizona, I'm not surprised this happened. I find people there to be dishonest, selfish, and generally unpleasant. I've luckily never gotten a knife stolen from my luggage at Sky Harbor. But I think Tucson has a higher crime rate, which is hard to do when competing with Phoenix (second highest rate of kidnappings in the world, second only to Mexico City).

Hope you get it back dude.
