Got my FBMLE today...

And man those mags are thick! Maybe I should have followed KnifeHunter's advice and gotten myself a Heavy Heart with standard black canvas micarta. I can definitely see the Tiger mags bothering my small, girlish hands during chopping. Any ideas on what I can do to fix that? It is a beautiful, THICK piece of INFI, but I had no idea that the center palm-swell would feel like squeezing a golf ball in the palm of my hand. The LE's are definitely for you more manly-handed...mans. :rolleyes::confused::D
 
Hey bro,

Bill Siegle posted pics of his modded (sanded down) handles, and they looked great. In fact, someone bought it from Bill recently -- you could track it down by searching the exchange.

Otherwise, send it Ban to remove the scales, sand them down from the inside, then put 'em back on.

Or trade for a FFBM plus cash and use the cash for a Ban satin mod...

Congrats on the FBMLE!

The handles are perfect for me.....I wish all my edc's had handles that size....
 
Thanks a lot, Xaman. I will look that up when I get a sec. I would love to be able to stay with the Satin/Tiger combo if I can, but these things are huge.

I just looked up that thread where Bill was selling his, but the pics have been removed. Anyone happen to have saved them to their HD? And can anyone post a link to any threads about re-fastening slabs/grips? I have been searching for over an hour and the search keeps coming up blank...ugh

I got that one. The handles are nice and smooth. I have not held one of the original mags, so have nothing to compare it to. I sure like it though.

I thought your Mistress was an LE? But I couldn't be sure it wasn't a "hand-shaped" FBM custom because I wasn't able to find a pic with the logo side visible. It looks great, but I don't know if I'd have the chutzpah to try it myself...especially on such a pricey knife.

What size gloves do you wear? I've got short, stubby fingers and I feel the middle palm-swell when I grab the knife.

Of course, any time I'd be chopping, I'd prolly be wearing gloves, but I'd still like the think to fit my hand better...

Thanks for the link, brother. Do you know if someone like Ban, or Ducci could actually put tube fasteners back onto a knife which'd had the original slabs replaced with another set? For the project I'm envisioning, I'd really like to keep it looking as close to factory as possible.

That's a really good option :thumbup: But it'll be a while (definitely after Blade).

But to answer your question --- Yes, Ban can do the flared tubing and make it look original.
